I remember stories of when I was little, the stories of the beast in the woods, watching and taunting us waiting to strike and take again. In my town over 15 girls were taken each year in the month of January, our parents would lock us up in our houses, nailing the windows and doors shut hoping it would keep it out.It was like waking up to a nightmare,I remember when my sister was taken, hearing the cries from my mother and father as they prayed for her to come back home.Every single day they prayed, they would put offerings out for the beast in hopes that my sister would return home.Years past and she never did,I was 13 at the time and now I'm 18,my parents became even more stricter about going outside, there one rule was to never be out after dark.Always come home when the sun sets,I have always stuck to that rule and I always will.My village isn't the same after it started happening,my great grandmother told me stories of before all of this happened, how everyone would have celebrations at night, they would have gatherings and festivals, you could feel the joy in the air is the way she put it.Now there isn't any sunny days,it's grey, everyone stays inside as to protect there loved ones from this so called beast,no one has seen it or caught it.There has been multiple times to where there have been groups that have gone out to search and slaughter the beast and take back our loved ones but once they adventure out into the dark woods none of them return. They stopped trying to catch the beast and we lost hope,we stay inside in hopes it will keep it out but soon all hope will be lost.It still finds a way in,exactly 15 girls are taken every single year for thousands and thousands of years,no one can stop it.I look outside my window every night before bed wondering if this will be my last night here or even my last night alive.
