Beloved

Chapter 1.

In a world where werewolves, dragons, fairies and other creatures existed, there was a kingdom ruled by the Vampire King, a fearful and heartless being. A monster without a soul and feelings. A creature incapable of mercy. 

Everyone was afraid of him.

My name is Elizabeth, I'm a orphan human girl who lives in a orphanage for vampire children who were either like me, abandoned by her or his parents, or had their parents killed by someone or something. You may be asking yourself what is a human girl doing by living in this kind of place, but sadly I don't know the answer for this question and I'm not sure if I will ever find out.

I had only a few hours of life when I was abandoned in front of some strange house. I don't have any idea of what was the person who abandoned me thinking, but leaving a baby in the middle of nowhere only meant that either someone was trying to get me killed by some creature or he or she was leaving me in the hands of my own destiny.

It took two days and half for someone to find me. I'm not sure how I survived but the people who knew me said the gods had mercy and decided to let me live. The only thing I remember I had with me was this gold necklace with a ruby pendant. This necklace was also the only thing that calmed me down when something bad happened.

After eighteen years here I am! Alive and healthy. Amazing, right? I managed to survive for almost nineteen years without being bited by a random vampire in the streets or in the forest. In this world humans weren't meant to exist. Eighteen years ago the Vampire King estabilished a rule that all the humans had to be killed, no creature of the night was to have mercy upon a human's soul.

There were three kinds of vampire beings. Level E vampires, those creatures of the dark who had succumbed into desires such as killing for fun or having other creatures raped only to see their faces in pain. I never saw one before but all who had said that they were horrendous creatures that had black skin, red eyes and bone wings. Creepy, right?

There were also Noble Vampires, vampires who had been turned by a pureblood just like the level E, but served the King and swore loyalty to him.

And the last kind were the Purebloods. Vampires who were born as vampires. The only kind who can give birth to another vampire. The King is a pureblood, the first Vampire who ever existed. Legends says that he created the other vampires only to serve him and ease his boredom. There were rumors who also said that he had the blood and powers to destroy the whole world if he wished to do so. Purebloods are really, really rare since they can only breed with other purebloods and it can take years or centuries for one to be born.

There are a lot of other things that people often misunderstood about vampires, things such as "they can't love", or , "they don't have a soul". These two things are the most common between human rumors and both of them are false. Vampires, just like werewolves, had "mates", but in the vampire language their mate was called "Beloved". Being someone's beloved meant you were their soul and heart. You were his everything. However if the beloved were killed his/her partner would die. A painfull death, and that's why almost every vampire who lost his beloved commited suicide to avoid this kind of pain.

Eighteen years ago the Vampire King had his beloved, who had just been born, killed by a human and that's why the Law "Homo-Sapien" existed. "Every single human should die by the hands of the King or the Royal Court".

People and Vampire wondered if their King was cruel because of that but no one had the answer since no human or creature had existed by the same time the Vampire King was born.

Have I mentioned that Purebloods are the only vampires who can't get old and are immortal? If no, that's only one more thing you should add to your "vampire dictionary".

Suddenly my door went open.

"They are coming"
