Night swept through late Japan, bathing everything in shadows. The sky was lightless, except for a few brave stars that shone out among the clouds.
Clouds that were pouring rain.
The small droplets of liquid made soft pittering sounds on the windows and roof of the school dorms, keeping a certain shadowy figure away.
"Fuck," Shihai Kuroiro muttered groggily, forcing himself over to check the time on his phone.
Midnight. The witching hour. His witching hour.
His bright eyes fixed on the time for a moment, before a cruel grin spread over his face. If he could t sleep, then why not have some fun with the other students?
The young teen slowly stood, lifting himself up onto the pads of his feet to make sure he was silent as a moth.
Perhaps not a moth, but he couldn't think of anything better right now.
Either way, the fierce raindrops would probably disguise any sound he made, which was unlikely nonetheless.
After all, he was Vanta Black, the scheming hero. He couldn't be fooled by something as simple as a squeaky board.
To ensure the missions success, he tested that the floor was dark enough for him to sink soundlessly into. Bingo.
Shihai slipped into the shadows, swimming into the kitchen. It was even darker here, shrouding the room with an eerie feel. Perfect.
He stood back up, smirking a the shadows washed over him. It felt so nice to be unseen for once.
But Kuroiro was on a mission, and he wouldn't be stopped. He slowly slid onto the counter, resting his heels against the cool wooden surface. He was going to wait for someone to come into the kitchen and then terrify them.
His first prey came up. Juzo Honenuki. The sandy blonde was always rather passive, so Shihai didn't have to worry about getting punched.
Juzo wore a sleeping mask on his forehead, eyes dropping with exhaustion.
"Hey, Shihai," The tired teen greeted, a large yawn following his sentence. Shihai immediately grunted in frustration, crossing his arms.
"How did you know it was me?!" He hissed in annoyance.
"Mm, dunno... you just never seem to sleep, so I figured you'd be wanting to scare someone." Juzo's reply made sense, but he was shocked that someone had actually been paying enough attention to his habits.
"Oh, wow. Well, I.. okay. I guess I'm easy to figure out," Shihai stated bluntly, before starting to laugh at his predicament.
"No, I'm just intelligent," Juzo responded smugly, arching his eyebrows in the dim light as he opened the fridge. Shihai's eyes were immediately met with a blinding light, and he hissed before scrambling into the shadows.
Juzo burst out laughing, looking over. "I guess demons do hate light, eh?"
