Chapter 11: Shopping Sucks

"What!?" I yelled I put my hands up to shoulders closed my eyes and made a pushing down gesture letting out a big breath. "Sorry mom it just surprised me... Are you happy?" I asked shyly she smiled and gave me a big hug. I almost suffocated. Once she finally let go she let one tear down her face and smiled "Yes honey, I am" she replied i smiled "Then I am too" I said. Everything was pretty boring I kept texting back and forth with the boys till one day I remembered it's Christmas eve! I haven't got Neo his gift! I ran out into the living room where mom was watching a gymnastics competition on the tv. "Mom can you give me a ride to the mall please!" I pleaded she clicked off the tv and picked up her keys. She frowned. "Ruby, your seventeen! You should really think about getting a car." Ugh I don't have good memories with cars. I remember my first car I was sixteen not that long ago I was parked texting one of my "friends" when some idiot hooked me on the back of his truck. He dragged me almost to the street when it finely untangled, I was in shock and my car was torn to shreds. Great day. I shivered "I will once I save enough money." I said finally mom rolled her eyes. We hopped in the car and she dropped me off. I went straight to Hot Topic. I was going to get him the skeleton gloves till I remembered he said he didn't really like them. I looked through black and kitty cat stuff for much longer then I wanted to. But going through everything I found a diamond in the ruff, I was also excited. It was a black hoodie with a big red heart in the middle with stitching across the heart. Gravity Falls! I was so excited I bought it right away! I got my mom's gift in advance so I'm all done shopping. I called a taxi and went back to the house. The rest of the day I hung out with my mom we ate snowball's and sugar cookies with lots of milk and last but not least all the original Christmas movies. She suddenly turned to look at me "I know it's a big step and kind of sudden but I invited my other half. his name is Sander over for Christmas tomorrow. And also his children" she explained i knew he would come over for Christmas but I had no idea he had kids. I groaned and throw my head back "Does that mean I have to get them gifts too? I was just at the mall!" I protested my mouth full of a sugar cookie that used to be santa. Mom laughed "Don't worry! He's going to a gift for you and I'll get a gift for his kids" she explained. Good no more shopping. I climbed into bed about eleven o'clock and went to bed. That night I dreamed, I was in my girl clothes walking passed all my friends. They were all catcalling and winking at me, for some reason I was wearing a short, tight bubble gum colored skirt with a crop top so short just call it a bra. I kept tugging my skirt down but it wouldn't move. I guess I'm afraid that my friends are bully's to girls and if they found out... good thing I woke pretty quickly. Mom had got me a Christmas outfit to wear it was a knee length red dress with a droopy bow tied to my hip. I also wore a red santa hat. I opened my door to the sound of sizzling bacon and smell of hot coffee cake, I'm pretty sure I stood there for awhile all my senses tingling. I walked drooling into the kitchen at my place at the table was a plate with a slice of coffee cake, bacon, scrambled eggs and a mug of hot cocoa. On the outside I smiled and said thank you, but inside I was jumping up and down bouncing off the walls. I love food. I ate everything so fast by the time mom sat down I was already done. "Now Sander and his kids will get here in in ten so be ready" she said "Ok" I replied not really paying attention. I went up to my room and played Minecraft on my phone. About ten minutes  later I heard the door open and voices say hello and introduce themselves "Ruby!" Mom called. I ruffled up my hair smoothed my skirt and started walking toured the door. Sander was a big man with a bare head and a five o'clock shadow, he wore a plain white T-shirt with nice blue jeans. He had blue eyes and a warm smile. He wasn't the one I was concerned about though, I was more concerned about Apollo and his little sister Artemis.
