It was an average day in the sleepy town of willow heights. You would think nothing bad could happen in such a small town sadly you are mistaken. It all started on the 29th of October 1999. It was a crisp autumn evening around midnight the wind howling through the trees. A tall young woman was walking in the woods blissfully unaware of her impending demise. All of a sudden the silence was cut in two by the snapping of twigs and the rustling of leaves then the silence was pierced by a blood-curdling scream and then silence took back the night.

The next morning I received a phone call from the police chief asking if I could work a murder case. I sighed in defeat and told him I would be there in a few minutes after I hung up I went to my bedroom and put my police uniform on and then I went to my car and drove to the station. The instant I walked in I was greeted by the chief. He briefed me on the case and that it looked like it was an animal attack but they were unable to confirm it.

The moment the chief was finished I immediately went down to the mourge to look at the victim. The first thing that jumped out at me was there were bite marks that looked eerily similar to a human bite and yet there were bite marks that definitely fit with the bite pattern of a big dog. I also noticed the victim had a huge chunk of her neck missing and she was also missing chunks of her arms and legs. The second I was done in the mourge I went back upstairs and went to my car and drove out to the crime scene. I arrived at the scene about five minutes later so I parked my car and got my camera from the passenger seat and proceeded to get out and walk toward the yellow crime scene tape. I noticed an odd set of footprints they started off as human feet and all of a sudden they turned into paws so I turned on my camera and started taking photos.

I stopped taking photos for a few seconds and went to talk to the chief as I walked passed a bush I saw a finger

poking out from the bottom of the bush. I grabbed a set of gloves and put them on and started poking around I lifted up the bottom section of the bush and saw the maggot-infested remains of a human hand as I reeled back in horror at what I saw.

I proceeded to go get some tweezers and a specimen jar after I got the materials that were needed I began carefully removing the maggots and putting them into a jar so I could examine them back at the station. When I had finished collecting the maggots I took a few pictures of the hand. When I was finished collecting the maggots I went to the chief and told him what I saw. The strange thing about this whole conundrum was that this was not the victim's hand this means that the hand had to belong to someone else. So I went back to get a tissue sample from the hand so I could examine the sample when I got back to the lab.

A few hours had passed before I could get back to the lab. The instant I got back to the station I immediately went down to the lab to start examining the maggots and the tissue sample from the hand. The tissue from the hand came back as inconclusive. It turns out that the maggots were actually botfly larvae and not actually maggots. I was able to conclude that the larvae were almost ready to hatch so they were 12 weeks old. It was about ten in the evening so I decided that it was time to head home for the night so I went to grab my bag and then I walked towards the door then I turned the lights off and I left. I was driving home and about five minutes later I was home. I stumbled up the stairs to my house and as soon as I got into the bedroom I passed out on the bed.

The next morning I woke up to the buzz of my alarm going off. I roll over and slap the off button on the alarm and I sluggishly got out of bed. I got dressed and grabbed a coffee cup and poured a cup and then I went to my car and went to work. When I arrived at the station I promptly went to ask the chief some questions. I arrived at his office and asked him about some of the tests that were ran. I asked if he ran a blood test and what the results were what I heard sent chills down my spine. The chief told me the victim had been drained of blood.

I asked for the autopsy report to see if my suspicions were correct. I was praying that I was wrong but as soon as I opened the file my heart sank. I saw that the victim had two puncture wounds in her neck. I handed the report back to the chief and told him that I was going to be in my office. I ran to my office and logged in to my laptop and searched the words vampire attacks. The first result showed a news article from a couple of years ago. The headline was another victim from an unknown attack. I read on and the victim's injuries looked exactly like the victim that we saw. There were bite marks all over her body and pieces of flesh missing.
