There was something odd about the boy across the street. His laces were detached creasing over his shoes and pouring off the sides, untied. without his tending they began to tatter. But he didn't notice her staring at them. Maybe it was the way the blue laces hadn't matched with the red of his shoes that had her staring. Or maybe it was his dark hair and pale eyes that caught her. He sat across the street everyday. But never did he look in her direction. Something about this bothered her as well. Her name was Della. Her dark hair cropping over her shoulders and bouncing like waves of black licorice. But she sat in the daisy fields. She was afraid to cross the street and say hello to this boy. She sat there when it rained, when it shined so bright that her skin would burn, and even when the snow froze her flowers at her feet. Everyday he went somewhere. Weekends as well as weekdays. But Della didn't ask. Her green eyes so deep they could be hiding emeralds. The soft scent of her sweet perfume. Pomegranate spice~ a delectable smell for ones nose. She stood in the sunny day as the flowers curl on her toes slowly. The wind blowing at her hair silently it could be a force of nothing. The way the transparent current caught her hair and trailed it over her flawless red lips. Her cheeks dotted with freckles like sand on a beach. He had earbuds grazing his ears and his foot tapping to the beat of whatever music was playing. The sign above him read, "bus stop" Della didn't go to school, she was homeschooled by her grandmother. She never lived in a house her parents as much because they were never able to keep a job long enough to pay for one. While they figure things out in Phoenix, Della was to stay here in Iowa with her Grandmother. she's been staying here for ten of her sixteen living years. But she couldn't make a friend. When she turned fifteen she saw the boy waiting at the bus stop. She knows if she sat by him she might be able to spark conversation. But for now she will just admire his dashing face, because as far as She's concerned... He isn't going anywhere.
