"Hunter, how could you!" Ashlynn cried as she pushed away her boyfriend.
"Ashlynn, I'm so sorry. I hoped you wouldn't find out this way. The truth is, things haven't been right with us for a while. I'm sorry, but I'm breaking up with you." Tears streamed down Ashlynn's face as Hunter turned away.
"Goodbye, Ashlynn." He said as he walked away, leaving her crumpled on the ground.
~Four Weeks Earlier~
"See you in a week, Hunter!" Ashlynn said, giving him a kiss on the cheek. She was headed back home to visit her mother.
"See you sweetie! Don't fall in love with a prince while you're gone." He replied, kissing her back. She giggled.
"I won't, I promise. As long as you don't fall in love with a princess."
"I already have." He said playfully.
"Hehe, ok now I really have to go. Bye honey!" He watched as she ran to her train and took her seat. She waved to him as the train pulled away. He waved back, standing on the platform until she disappeared from view. Hunter sighed, then headed back to the school.
"I don't know man, it just feels like there's something wrong between me and Ashlynn, you know?" Hunter lay on his bed, talking with his roommate, Dexter Charming.
"Well, you have been dating for seven months now. Maybe it's a sign you need to move on. There are plenty of other stories in the book, if you get my drift." Dexter replied very matter-of-factly.
"You're right Dex." He replied, sitting up.
"Tell you what, take this week to scope out the competition. If you find someone new, you'll just break it to her when she gets back. If not, no worries!"
"Sounds good. I'll start looking tomorrow." They bumped fists and as Hunter was walking out the door, a faint remembrance of his promise to Ashlynn crossed his mind. He quickly pushed it out.
~The Next Day~
Hunter surveyed the front of the school as students were pouring out the doors. It was the end of the day and he figured that he had the best chance spotting someone attractive from one of the trees by the front doors. Pesky sat beside him, entertained with the acorn Hunter had given him to keep him quiet.
"You know Pesky, I'm not sure if I should be doing this. Ashlynn is really great after all. I mean, ....." He trailed off. He saw a red hooded figure exit the school from the side entrance.
"Who is that??" He said, leaning forward. The figure turned, as if they knew he was watching them. Hunter gasped.
"It's Cerise." He whispered. She pulled up her cloak and took off like a lightning bolt into the forest. She dashed into a shadow and disappeared.
"Whoa! Come on Pesky, we've got to see where she went!" Pesky squeaked in surprise as he was suddenly grabbed by Hunter.
~Time Skip Brought to you by Maddie Hatter (*runs off* It's tea time!!)~
Cerise was running through the forest, faster than a wolf. She felt great. Powerful. Free. It was finally the end of the school day. For the next eighteen hours she didn't have to think about her upcoming Che-myth-stry test or her detention. She could do anything she wanted. Including take off her hood. She finally stopped when she reached the deepest part of the forest, a place she spent a lot of time at. She pulled off her hood and breathed a sigh of relief as the forest wind brushed against her ears. After a moment if silence, a bush moved to her right. She whipped around, pulling her hood up again.
"Who's there!?" She called out. Nothing. "I'll drag you out!" Hunter Huntsman suddenly popped out of the bush, his squirrel friend on his shoulder.
"Alright, alright, calm down." He said as he stepped fully into view. Cerise had never actually gotten a good look at him before, and now that she had the chance, she did so gladly. From far away, you couldn't tell that he was ripped, and in a good way. His eyes held a deepness she had never seen before. They sparkled as of he knew a secret. Maybe he did.
"Did you see anything?" She inquired harshly. He looked at her smoothly.
"What? Your ears? Maybe." He smirked, taking a step forward. Cerise hesitated, deciding whether or not to run.
"You know, I should have expected that." Another step closer. She stayed rooted to the spot.
"You always acted so, wild. So feral." Step. "But you know..." He was now right in front of her.
"I like wild." And with that he leaned down and kissed her. Her eyes snapped open but she soon found herself enjoying the kiss. He's dating Ashlynn, the thought raced through her mind and she jerked away, pulling her hood up as she ran into the forest, not daring to look back.
