I wake up to the smell of poison burning my nose.
And the screeching of swords being sharpened.
Is eggs and bacon so much to ask for?
I slowly but surely hoist myself up (which is not an easy task when your hands are tied). I groggily look around and see almost every elf getting their weapons ready. For what, I'm not sure, but its defiantly not because of me. "Oi, the prisoners awake," some random elf says. He also seems to have a weird accent........why do all of these elves have weird accents! I glare at him, but he doesn't seem to get the hint. I hear another side conversation.
"Wow, we found a wanted criminal and after we get her to the council we're going off to get revenge on those filthy humans." An elf says.
"Revenge is such a dirty word, we're only doing whats right, its the humans fault this all started. I don't know about you, but I call it justice." Another elf replies. I see Rayla walk over to them.
"You guys can't just say stuff like that!" I hear her yell. "She could be listening!" She points right at me. Well no shit Sherlock of course I was listening.
The other elves seemed to realize this and quickly said in defense, "well it doesn't matter, its not like shes going anywhere."
Rayla looks kinda agitated now, "Don't underestimate her, you guys are putting our mission in jeopardy!" That's right don't underestimate me! I'm starting to like this Rayla girl more and more.
They look angrily at her, "says the assassin who hasn't killed anyone." "Your always putting our missions in jeopardy."
Rayla tenses. I could tell that was a low blow, but she seemed choked up by it. It looked like she was about to say something but, decided against it. She walked away and the male elves continued sharpening their swords. Just like that, it was like nothing had happened.
I decided it was best to forget about that situation and let it go. After all, shes just an elf, not my concern. My only concern right now, was getting out of here. My stomach grumbled. Wellllll after I get some breakfast. It only occurred to me now that none of the elves have given me anything to eat. "Hey," I yell to Runaan. "You gonna let me starve or what?" This was a really bad idea. But, none the less Runaan looked at me and tossed me a Xadian fruit. Well, that turned out better than expected. I tried reaching for the fruit but then I realized my hands were tied. Runaan smiled innocently at me. That smug little bitch. I swear I'm gonna punch him when I get out of here.
I guess its best to just not eat for now. It looks like we're about to start moving anyway. I'll have a better chance of escape once we're walking. I should probably find my way back to one of the human kingdoms, because that's where the mirror will be. With a mage. The thing is I'm not sure what kingdom, or what mage. Maybe I'll try K-. My thoughts were cut off by Runaan speaking.
"Alright everyone, we have a lot of ground to cover so lets get going," Runaan says firmly. The moonshadow elves jump up and one of them grabs my arm to lift me up. I comply and start walking with the group.
~Timeskip brought to you by my headcanon of Runaan making dad jokes to Rayla~
Uggggghhhhhh, my feet hurt like hell, we've been walking for what seems like hours. And still no openings for me to escape. I guess god is just not on my side today.
"fdsghjklljk-elves-jjhgbdfgdfdgf-here-njhghfrdtrd-no-hughfdgdgfjyytr-attack."
I here muttering. I can't hear most of what they're saying, but what I can make out, sounds like there planning to attack us. This is great! I've never been so happy to be attacked in my life. I silently thank god. Hey he might not be real, but he seems to come in when I need him most. "Everyone stay alert, there are humans around here," I hear Runaan say. I guess he heard it too.
"Humans? How'd they get this far into Xadia?" An elf asks.
"I don't know, but we will deal with it, spread out, go in groups of two and scan the area, don't allow them to ambush us," Runaan says.
"What about the human?"
"Shes not going anywhere," he says surely. Wow, you sound like you actually believe that Runaan.
The elves nod and set me down by a tree. "Rayla," I hear Runaan say.
"yeah?" She replies.
"Just to be safe, I want you to stay here and watch the human."
I can tell by her face that shes pissed, but she complies anyway. "Fine," Rayla says with an edge to her voice.
"Hey, don't be mad that I'm not letting you go on this mission. Trust me, it won't be very interesting anyway. Plus if I let you go, you'd steal all the glory from the others, because your the best fighter I know." Runaan says smiling warmly at her.
Rayla smiles. "Thanks, you always know how to make me feel better."
"I did raise you." He says.
"Ok silly, go on your mission already, I'll be fine."
Runaan runs off into the forest, leaving Rayla and me alone.
