Kushina had only set out a night ago, she had travelled lightly on her first night, she wore a black cloak, red silk combat leggings, black boots, fingerless gloves, and a black vest with studs on the shoulders with a white undershirt and a cross necklace. Her katana was at her side and was connected to her black belt for easy access, her sidearms which were two custom p1911 handguns with custom designs and engravings.
"God..this place used to be quite a sight.." She said in a disdainful tone as she walked across the desert like terrain with the reigns that were connected to her pure black thoroughbred horse. She had named her Bella when she was young and knew her like no other. She then stopped to take out her canteen and poured a bit of water into her hand and held it up to Bella for her to drink. "There girl..".
The place she had arrived in was once a bustling marketplace, but now lay broken and desolate. Buildings were nothing but ash, goods from the market were gnashed and lay wasted in the dirt and bones lined the streets of the former inhabitants. War had torn society into nothing but a fight for survival.
Kushina then suddenly stopped and began looking around slowly. Then she heard it, a low growling noise, or something of groans and wretching. "Stay Bella.." She said as she hitched her horse up to a nearby post as she walked towards the building where the sound was coming from. When she opened the door, it fell off the hinges and too the floor, and suddenly all was silent. Then in the blink of an eye, one of the creatures from the other side leaped from the shadows and sent Kushina to the ground with her katana breaking free and sliding a ways away from her reach. She was able to land her hands on the creatures neck to keep it from biting her as it roared and screeched as it frantically grabbed and clawed at her facial area. "Goddamn it!" She said as she was struggling to keep the creature from getting closer, then in a moments notice she had an idea, she let out a piercing whistle and the clip clip of her horse was heard approaching. Bella's hooves soon struck the creature and sent it sprawling away. Kushina made a quick grab for her katana, freed it from the sheath and walked over to the creature where she stepped on its head to pin it and then drove the blade deep into its chest, killing it instantly.
The otherworldly being made no noise and lie still. The bones and other scavenged flesh and teeth that made its body were cracked and frail so it fell apart after death with nothing to hold it together. Though this creature was different..the head was more fortified and held together then others she had encountered before.
"Rotting bastards..they're evolving..". She said with grim as she sheathed her katana and her walked over to Bella and began petting her on the nose and holding it in her hands. "Good girl.." She smiled as she fed Bella an apple she had salvaged a while ago while she rubbed her soft hair. "Now Bella..ready to move on?" She said as she climbed up into the saddle on Bella and yanked the reigns a bit while clicking her tongue a few times. Bella then started into a slow trot across the desert like plains.
She and Bella kept riding on for a few hours before coming to a stop by and old tree with a small pool of water near it. Kushina pulled the reigns near the tree and let her horse drink as she began making a fire and rolling out her sleeping bag. "Don't worry girl..we're gonna make it ok?" She smiled up at her horse as she layed down while looking up at the stars. They may have been the only beauty left in the world at this point as all you saw now were dead plants, or people, and desert terrain. She then began to drift off into sleep, after a while she had fallen completely into slumber. Kushinas journey was only beginning, much hardship was ahead, she had to be ready.
