Long ago... there existed peace within the multiverse. All galaxies lived in harmony with one another, none to clash in many eons. That all changed one day... one day... not too long ago.
"I wonder what will happen when I plug you in..." Logan says.
Logan is a young adult, around the age of 14. He wears a Nintendo Entertainment System t-shirt, faded jeans, and FILA-branded sneakers. Logan always tinkers with technology, modifying game systems, games themselves, and much more.
What he is attempting to plug in is the Nintendo Game Boy. A relatively small but versatile system that Logan has enjoyed ever since his days as a developing child.
He plugs in the Game Boy, to find one save game file for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. To his and many other's dismay, the Game Boy does not have a back-light system. If you were to play the system in pitch black darkness, you would see nothing.
"What can I do to fix the lighting?" He asks to himself.
Logan began searching around for a program that would give him the power of back light. What he stumbled upon was a download link for a file titled "gblight.blg." The .blg file extension is a performance monitor for Windows operating systems.
Logan put the file inside of the Game Boy, unplugged it from his computer, and powered the system on. What's normally supposed to happen is the classic falling Nintendo logo, followed by the game inside the cartridge slot booting up. However, that does not happen.
A blue light appears from the Game Boy's minuscule screen, followed by a face with square eyes and mouth.
"That's cute! It looks like a Tamagotchi. I'll name you... Jimmy. Jimmy the Game Boy." Logan says.
This is where things take a turn for the worst.
The eyes go from a square to a triangle, still showing that same smile from before, menacingly. The Game Boy grows self aware, quickly trying to free itself from Logan's hands.
"Woah! Come back here, Game Boy!" Logan says.
The Game Boy went downstairs, and by the time he gets down there, a large light blue body is now flowing out of the bottom of the Game Boy.
"What the-?! Who are you?" Logan yells.
"You have unleashed me from my digital prison. I am Syntax, your new overlord." The Game Boy says with a deep, corrupted, and menacing voice.
"I'm the one in control of you, Syntax! I own you!" Logan says.
"You may own me materialistically, but I am my own being. Now, tell me where the Diamond Spiral is located or I end your puny human race!" Syntax demands.
"I will never tell you, you sick computer virus! If the Spiral falls into the wrong hands, it could spell 'The End' for all worlds!" Logan retaliates.
"If you are not going to tell me, I will find it myself! I will exterminate anything that stands in my way!" Syntax yells.
Syntax's program file functions similar to a dream demon; it has a physical form, but can also become an illusion and go inside a human's mind. Think of Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls.
Syntax flies into Logan's mind, where it believes the Spiral is located. Logan fell unconscious due to how fast it occurred. With haste, Syntax pinpointed the location of the Spiral.
"Here it is... the Diamond Spiral. With this, I shall become the ruler of all worlds!"
