Freddie never really liked summer. The hot Californian air, people, sweat, and being off from school. Yeah, she sounded crazy whenever school was near to an end and everyone was excited except her. Whenever someone had something amazing to do, then asked her, she always had the same excuse.

"I'm going on a cruise with my family to Malibu. What are you doing?"

"Nothing of importance."

"I'm going to visit my grandmother who I haven't seen since I was eight. What about you?"

"Nothing of importance."

Freddie never understood why people would get frustrated with her every summer break. Saying that she should go out more. Freddie was fine with doing "Nothing of importance." Since it required her to not have to go out and face the scorching air and irritable people that drove her crazy.

Nothing exciting ever happened to her over summer break. Her parents where just normal people who did normal things. Nothing exciting ever happened to her.

"Freddie!" Freddie looked up from her book with a scrunched face, getting up from her twin sized bed with great difficulty. "Freddie!"

"I'm coming, mother!" Freddie sat her book down and ran down the carpet stairs, waltzing into the living room where her step-mother and father sat with her brother in between them. "What's all this about?"

Freddie sat down in front of her family, staring them down as they fidget with their hands, simultaneously. Freddie rose a skeptical brow, watching them closely.

"Well...um..." Her mother began, rubbing the back of her neck. "It's time."

"No!" Freddie shrieked, standing up from the leather, circular couch, fists balled at her sides. "We've only been here for five years! You said we only leave after seven!"

"I know sweetie, but everyone is starting to notice that your father isn't looking a day over 45. They are beginning to theorize crazy ideas that are getting too close to the truth." Freddie stepped closer to her mother, pointing a manicured finger at her head.

"Oh, when it happens with dad we leave? Or when it's you or Collin! But when I want to leave you say 'oh you just need to get used to their customs!' And stuff like that." Freddie placed her hand on her hip, shifting her weight to her left side, clearly annoyed with her mother. "I'm done with moving. I'm done!" Freddie threw her hands in the air and stomped back up the stairs, for emphasise on how angry she was.

"She'll come around, darlings." Freddie's mother placed her hands on her husband and son, a smirk placed in her thin, pale, lips.

"It honestly isn't fair that they always get what they want. I mean... You have to agree with me, Tabby!" Freddie flopped onto her bed, phone against her ear ad she stared at the stucco ceiling.

"I think it's weird how your parents keep moving. I mean, I haven't seen you since you lived in Ireland when you were seven. And, now, you're seventeen, almost eighteen. You should, at least, have a say in it." Tabby suggested, flipping a pancake on her pan. "What do you think, Jonny?"

"Sorry, I wasn't really paying attention to what you two were saying." Jonny murmered.

"You never do... Idiot." Tabby rolled her eyes, placing the cooked pancake on a small plate, turning off the stove and sitting down at the table. "Where are they now?"

"They left to go visit some friends who are gonna take us to America when we decide to move."

"AMERICA! FREDDIE!" Freddie quickly moved her ear from her phone, holding I as it rung. "Freddie what the hell!" Freddie carefully placed the phone back on her ear, rolling her eyes at Tabby.

"I know... I asked them if we could move back to Ireland or at least the UK, but mother said they know too much about us. Like how the hell would people we haven't seen in like ten, eleven, years, remember us?" Jonny scoffed on his end.

"Maybe if they have a grudge on you... Or someone in your family is supernatural." Everyone paused, letting what Jonny said sink into their brains. "Haha, I got you guys. There isn't such a thing as supernatural beings!" As Jonny continued to laugh, Freddie sat up on her bed and gasped, covering her mouth.

"Jonny," She started, standing up from her and racing to grab her laptop on her desk. She opened it quickly, typing in her password as she placed her phone down and put it on speaker. "That might be the smartest thing you have ever said!" Clicking on the search engine, Freddie tapped a beat with her fingers. "I have noticed how often we have to leave. And my step-mother..." Freddie typed something into the Google search bar and clicked on the first link. Once Freddie quickly scanned the words, she paused.

"Freddie, what did you find?" Tabby inquired, placing her fork down and switching her phone to her left ear, staring at the wall in front of her. "Freddie... Answer me."

"My step-mother..." Freddie covered her mouth, clicking on other links and reading them. "I think she's a supernatural being. I've seen it, Tabby... Jonny. Jonny, you know more about them, tell me... What being has bright blue and pink eyes and platinum blonde hair?" Jonny furrowed his brows, trying to figure out what he knows about them.

"A succubus?" Jonny uttered, raising a brow at his best friend's silence.

"So... You finally figured it out." Freddie quickly looked up from her laptop, staring at her step mother that stood in her doorway, arms crossed over her chest. "Smart girl."
