The sound of paws heavily thumping against the warm soil ripped through the peace and quiet of the forest, a designated place for the Alpha Olympics to commence.
Alphas from around the world who deemed themselves worthy of the "Strongest" or "Number One" title paraded across the arena, werewolves and other creatures cheering with excitement in the air.
One by one, they formed a line, a paw bent slightly in a bowing motion with noses high in the air.
A total of 200 alphas were present, each unique in their own way.
Some attracted attention towards themselves by the colour of their silky smooth fur, others by their monstrous size while the rest with the emotions their eyes held and portrayed towards the crowd.
But one thing they all held in common with each other, was determination.
The determination to win and return home victorious.
Every decade, the games would be held specifically for the wolves who have been blessed with the top status of their hierarchy, both a gift and challenge for them to participate happily either for fun or simply to prove themselves to the world just who was the strongest of them all.
The course was such, it began with a race.
Swimming, archery, wrestling and so on. The list of activities stretched out long enough to last a whole week.
Victors of each sport would advance to the final round that would declare the winner for the Alpha Olympics.
The last stage called "The Hunt".
A handful of so called prey, (unnamed. It was the participants duty to determine which was meant to be caught and which wasn't) would be placed into the arena as the alphas battled each other to haul in as much as they could back to base.
Minutes passed before the crowd finally quietened down, the host of the event saying a speech to all present.
After the words were delivered, the calling out of participants was done.
"Jeon Jungkook of the Light Paw pack!"
Cheers.
"Jackson Wang of the Wolf Fang pack!"
Cheers.
"Kim Taehyung of the Blood Moon pack!"
Again, cheers.
The announcement went on until a total of 199 have been called out.
"Park Seokjin of the Silver Tear pack!"
Silence.
Murmurs filled the crowd as no wolf stepped forth. Those readily lined up looked at each other, each wondering what was going on.
The host squinted his eyes in confusion.
He then opened his mouth to repeat himself.
"Park Seokjin of the-"
Hurried running could be heard, panting so loud that it broke through the silenced arena.
Then a figure came into sight, shocking all those who laid their eyes upon him.
His smooth black locks bounced gracefully on his head while he ran, flushed cheeks and plump blossom red lips easily noticed on his pale face.
Coming to a halt in front of the crowd, he bent over, hands on his knees to take a rest before straightening himself up.
Sweat rolled swiftly down his body, the sun's rays sparkling on his skin as he flashed a breath taking smile.
"I apologize for my tardiness. I just presented" he said, enchanting the people with his soothing voice.
All the alphas in line couldn't keep their eyes off of him, each not able to figure out why.
The host stared down at the male before him with a questioning brow raised up.
"Park Seokjin of the Silver Tear pack?" He asked, unsure if the male before him was really the son of the pure-alpha legendary couple.
Yes, he was tall and had broad shoulders that any alpha would kill to have. But that did not necessarily mean he was an alpha.
For crying out loud, his whole aura was the most peaceful thing he's seen in his whole four hundred and sixty years of living!
Maybe this Seokjin was the type of alpha who lived by the expression "This is the calm before the storm".
"Very well then. Take your stand beside the other participants. Wolf form, please"
Seokjin tilted his head to the side, allowing a view of his milky neck before shaking it in a "no" gesture.
"I'm afraid I cannot do that, sir" he stated honestly, shocking all those who bore witness to the scene.
"What an outrageous thing to say, young man! You know very well that it is tradition for an alpha to stand beside his competitors in wolf form before the games can commence!
Why, in the name of the Moon Goddess, would you choose to disrespect such an important thing!" Bellowed the host, clearly angry at how Seokjin was behaving.
The latter just smiled before bowing his head as a sign of respect.
"It would be too much for my wolf to bear with, sir"
The wolves snorted, already eliminating this pretty alpha inside their heads.
It was obvious that he was the weakest amongst them and would have no chance of winning at all.
"What kind of weakling alpha is your wolf, boy? Stop saying nonsense and shift this instant!"
The crowd laughed and so did the alphas who awaited his presence on stage.
Seokjin's smile did not falter.
"I will not shift"
