Kit's POV

(A/N): Bear with me it's kind of long

I have learned that, more often than not, that sleep is a bad idea. Tonight was no exception.

I tried to keep my eyes open, the candle burning brightly beside me. Ethan was on his side, away from me. He was probably already asleep. The words on the page started to stop making sense, and I stopped listening to the voice on the radio. I couldn't open my eyes after blinking. Eventually, I drifted off.

I faced her.

She had beautiful blonde hair, which drifted down in straight lines to her waist. Her bright blue eyes matched the sapphire pendant hanging from her neck, like a giant tear. Her pale skin had freckles everywhere, like brown constellations spread across an ivory sky. She wore the same dress I had faced so many times before, a black-and-white striped flared dress.

"Hello," I whispered.

She smiled. "When will you join me?"

I thought of the frozen dirt, the broken gray slabs of stone, rotting leaves, dust and brambles, and wilting flowers.

"I don't know."

"Who's she?"

I turned around to face another woman, just as elegant and beautiful. Dark cocoa skin, an oversized purple sweater, bronze wire glasses, and honey-tipped hair. It was like the exact opposite of the ivory sky.

"Hello, Chance."

She smiled and said. "Why don't you visit anymore?"

I felt tears sting my eyes.

"I... I can't."

"Liar. Who's he?"

I turned again. Another person, this time male, stood where my ivory love had once been.

"Hello, Kit," He said in a soft voice.

Dark red hair, soft almond skin, and mismatched eyes. One green, one brown. Like the earth. Soft, tired smiles, golden streaks, and birthmarks across his face.

"Monty."

"Where have you been all this time?" He cracked a small smile. "I waited."

I couldn't answer. I hadn't left the city in countless years, wasting away with one person after the other. I always hunted for others, but I probably drained them too. Did they know about the others? I never visited them anymore. I couldn't bring myself to do it. They occupied my every song, my every painting, every book and every dream.

There had been five total. No doubt there would be another one soon.

I sighed and prepared myself for the question, another turn. Two more. Only two.

This time, he would be colored green and gray.

"Who's he?"

"Silverstar," I greeted.

"Who's she?"

"Adeline."

Adeline. Silverstar. Montgomery. Chance. Emma.

Five broken hearts, five relationships I hated for loving. Five frozen graves I left behind.

Surely, there would be another.

(A/N): HOLLLYYY SHIT IM SORRY THAT WAS SUPER GOOD (at least I thought it was) hope you enjoyed it! Also, if you've read hiatus note, the story isn't exactly working out. Will be making more, and updating soon. I will probably be working on this a bit more since I don't know I'm weird. I also want to set this story in Oregon, for some reason. Thanks for reading!
