The Happiest Places

"This is haven," they said, a grin on their face as they reassure. "You're safe here now. Nothing will hurt you. We promise..."

I leaned back on the couch in my dorm room and I scoff to myself as I recall those words I heard years ago, "Tch, hollow lies in my opinion..."

I felt something touch my arm as I turned my head toward the edge of the couch to see what it was, only to see the one and only EdgeLord beside me. He had short, blonde hair that was just long enough to cover his right eye and his eyes were a bright, emerald green. He had two piercings on his left ear with silver earrings in them. He was a well-fit male teen who was 16, a year older than me, and people always fangirled about him. Rumors say he can even make a straight man fall for him, but I doubt it. His name was Nox. His cold eyes stared into mine as he spoke, his voice in a teasing tone, "What are you going on about now, Loser? Another fantasy of yours? And hey, quit staring at me. It's getting creepy... But if you like what you see I could alw-"

I poked his cheek, trying to get him to stop talking, "Shut up! And you were the one staring at me, you creep!"

"Woah, woah, woah," he chuckled a little as he spoke, "Calm down there, Lily. Wouldn't want you hurting me..." He smirked and moved removed his hand from my arm, placing it on my head and he ran his fingers through my hair, "But you know you love me~."

"DO NOT," I yelled as I hit him with a nearby pillow, making him lose balance and knocking him to the ground. I crossed my arms and looked the opposite direction, "Why are you here anyways, you perv?"

Sitting up, he let out a laugh and spoke, "Because you have no other friends and I share this dorm-room with you. Duh..." He got up off the ground, standing up and looking down at me as he poked my cheek, "Also... You're blushing, so you do love me~. Since we do share a dorm, I'm sure I can entertain you for a lit-"

I smacked his hand away and stuttered, "Sh-Shut up! I only share a room with you because you lied and said we're siblings. You perv!"

"Okay, okay..." he sighed as he placed his arm behind his head, looking up at the ceiling, "Anyways, you really should stop doubting this place, 'ya know? We get food and schooling, there's even stores and stuff here. It likes a small city here. What is there to doubt?"

"A lot," I huffed as I got of the couch and fixed my hair, "Like what is in the gosh dang hallway at night? Why won't they let us go in there? What are they hiding?"

He placed his hand on my shoulder, moving my long blond hair out of the way, "Lily, stop worrying so much. You always are so concerned about that stupid hallway. I'm sure it's just because they want to limit wondering at night or something." He stared into my eyes, sincerely trying to calm me down about the situation.

I looked away from his gaze for a moment and down at the ground, "But..."

"But nothing," he tightened his grip on my shoulder as I looked back at him. "And if there is something going on there..," a look of concern filled his eyes as her stared at me, "I don't want you getting hurt."

A took a deep breath and sighed, "Fine... But no promises I won't check some other time..."

"Then no promises I won't keep stalking you to protect you," he winked at me and gave me a hug, "Just don't go without me, and don't get hurt."

I crossed my arms and looked at the ground as a slight blush crossed my face, "F-fine..."

"Ohh~ You're blushing~," he said in a mocking tone, "Are you sure you don't love me~?"

I tried to push him away as I yelled once again, "O-Of course not, idiot!"

He laughed then grabbed my shoulders, pushing me away as he looked back into my eyes, "Oh~ Since it's getting late... How about we share my bed tonight~?"

"HELL NO," I screeched as I kicked his leg and ran to the opposite side of the room, jumping into my bed and hiding under the blankets, "I swear I need a room change..."

Nox laughed as he sat down on his bed, his unapproachable exterior not showing at all, "Alright, good night M'Lady!"

"Good night, perv..," I said as I lay down, head still swirling with thoughts of the blocked off hallway. "What on earth are they hiding... Maybe tomorrow... I'll see..," I said in my mind as I drifted into a peaceful slumber.
