You felt the enormous claws of the crow grabbed you and held you tightly as the bird took you from the Undead Asylum. You felt the wind hit your face, and you couldn't really held open your eyes. Your dry skin felt like it was slicing through the air. Then you felt as the bird changed it's orientation. You felt like it was about to land, so you got ready for the takeoff. As the firm grip loosened around your muscleless half-rotten body, you opened your eyes, and just like a Switch-Blade knife you opened up as you performed a landing one would call superhero landing. Whatever they are. Because heroes are really super, but in this world where everything is slowly falling into pieces, you couldn't imagine one hero that could save everyone. You were just relieved that you got out from that Asylum, and that now there is a bigger place than your cell to spend your remaining days before you'd go hollow. More space to smell the poisonous flowers of this doomed world, before you'd lost your sanity.
The four horsemen. They were right, weren't they? There was the war, the raging battle between the Lord's and the dragons, there was the disease when the fire started to flicker, making the age of fire sick, and putting it to it's death bed, and now, that everything slowly turns into hollow shells of their past self, you feel the carving. The starvation for something you can't even name. It's either the light, the soul or just a beat of your dead heart. But only that heart of yours have given up the fight, even though your body was struggling against the time.
There weren't really a crowd, but you could see a knight. He interviewed his fingers as his hands were resting on his knees. He leaned a bit forward as you walked up to him.
"Well, what do we have here? You must be a new arrival. Let me guess..." he said with pain and irony in his voice. "'Fate of the undead', right?" you nodded in mid-sentence, but it doesn't stopped him from talking. "Well, you are not the first. But there's no salvation here. You'd have done better to rot in the undead asylum..." This was the point when you had enough of him.
"You can't give up." you said. Your voice was ancient, and raspy. You'd give your longsword for a chalice of water. It would have sounded a lot better and you were sure it would be less painful to talk.
"Well, since you are here... Let me help you out. There are actually two bells of awakening. One's up above in the Undead Church. The other is far, far below, in the ruins at the base of Blighttown. Ring them both and something happens. Brilliant, right?" He seemed lost. With every word, he felt more and more lost in this world, while you found yourself as you came out of that dumphole Asylum.
"I'll ring them both. As long as something happens, and the world is moving there's still hope for us." You said, and you could only faintly hear his voice as he mumbled to mostly himself.
"I figured it wouldn't stop you. No one listens to an old foe like me. Ha ha ha hah..." You turned away from him, and walked around the ruins of something that looked like the ruins of a temple. You found some useful stuff there but nothing you couldn't live without. Then you held your shield and sword next to your chest as you started walking up on the stairs that were carved into the mountain.
They were broken, but you were careful. You were just a newcomer here and a weakling now. Before you could get to the top of the stairs, you saw someone lurking in front of you. Their steps were wobbly. You were suspicious. Even in the undead asylum, not lots of folks were bearable, but in this new land, everyone was vicious. Everyone was ready to fight for whatever they believed would suffice their deteriorating minds. I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to stay alive and bring hope. And I knew, that the first one will not be an easy ride, not to mention the second part of it.
The man standing in front of me, had a short-sword in his right hand and a broken wooden shield in the other. And he was ready to bounce. You crouched down. You were ready too. As his feet left the ground, his body leaping towards you, you rolled out of his way next to him. You tightened your grip on the hilt of your sword. This was your time to attack. As soon as you got up, you slashed your blade towards your opponent, and felt, as your blade hit his spine. The blade was already chipped, but his bones weren't too strong either. He fell to his knees from the hit, but you knew that it wasn't enough. You smit down once again, this time, your blade hit his collar bone and cervical vertebrae. This was the last hit you needed, he fell to the floor dead. You tried to catch your breath, but then new noised hit your ear. You looked behind your back. There was another warrior behind you, with the same equipment as the first one. And you saw flames on the next stair up the side of the hill.
Of course you didn't really wanted to pay much attention to that. The next fight was already in front of you.
You already knew, that you will have no rest in this wretched land, not like, you had in your locked little cell. A smile creeped slowly over your face, as you and the warrior launched towards one another.
This time it was easier, and as you slayed your opponent, you felt some kind of power being sucked into your body. You felt a bit more alive. This happened the last time too, when you killed that other foe.
There were explosions above your head, the noise was like a pitcher breaking I to pieces. You were torn now. A third, somewhat better equipped man was standing next to one leg of a massive bridge. This person has some orange cloth tied around his waist and metal armor. Looked like some kind of uniform. He had a massive metal shield in front of his body, with a long sword engraved into it. Aside from his shield, he had a longsword in his left hand too. He was ready to attack, but he just stood there for now. You didn't want to turn your back on him. You knew, that he would kill you at that instant.
Yet, the explosions were really near, and threatening.
