Grocery stores have always been a nightmare for me. I mean they are always so packed with people.
Being here is just a retribution for me.
But when you are living alone in a place like New York City you have got to do certain things. Finally after standing in payment line for about half an hour I get the hell out of there.
"Avery! Is that you?" Someone called
"Shit must be someone from the hospital" I mumbled to myself as I sure as hell didn't want to meet anyone of my colleagues on a Sunday!
Well being an introvert doesn't always help.So obviously ignoring the voice I walk towards my car, fast. But before I could possibly do anything.
"Hey Avery, whoa it's been so long since I last saw you" oh so he was not my colleague but a friend from High School.I remember him.
"Hey Xavier, wow really it's been long. You've changed so much. I mean you look so different." Yeah! You look smokin' hot but I couldn't possibly say that.
"Yo, so now I guess you're Dr. Avery Mashby."
"Yeah! I guess I am"
"Congratulations dude you really did crack it."
"It's nothing, really"
But before I could ask what he had achieved in his life, his phone rang."Hello! This is Xavier." He said to the other person on the phone and continued but just to show some respect after keeping his call on hold he said to me "Hey it was really nice seeing you today. I'd really like to catch up. Some of our old schoolmates are here. So can I get your number?"
And then he gave me a piece of paper and a pen. After debating with my inner self and for ol' times sake I gave him my number.
Then we made our farewells. While driving I reminisced about the time when we had first met and how he was not just a random old school boy in my life but my "almost" boy-friend 10 years ago.
