We went to school like always, after school Madison and I walked back to the pack house through the forest, since it was a shorter walk.
We we're laughing and playing around when we heard twigs snap behind us. We turned around in sync and saw 4 rogues approaching us, they growled and we knew they wanted a fight.
Shift, get ready for a fight, I'll take the big one and 2 small ones you take the other 1
I mind linked Maddie through our pack link since the rest of the pack was still too far away to contact. She slightly nodded before shifting into her wolf I followed suit not caring if my clothes were ripped to shreds.
The big one took control and lunged at me with his buddy's following him like little lost pups. He bit my front paw wich made an whimper escape my lips.
I bit hard into his neck, the metallic taste of blood pooling into my mouth, until I felt him go limp. The 2 smaller wolves lunged at me at the same time, but I didn't want to hurt them because the still looked like very young shifters.
I gave a loud growl to wich they submitted and whimpered. When I looked at Madison my heart almost stopped she was almost limp, as her body hang from the rogues jaw.
I tackled him from the side wich made him release Madison. He tried lunging at me but my reflexes were to fast and I broke his neck instead not killing him just paralyzing him.
I turned to the 2 pups and shifted not caring if I'm naked. "Shift". They did as they were told and the blonde blue eyed twins looked at me scared. "Take that rogues and follow me!"I ordered with as much authority in my voice as I could manage, they nodded and picked up the rogues.
I gently picked up Maddies still body and started walking to the pack house the twins didn't dare to not staying in sync with me.

When we we're about 60 miles away from the pack house Aidens worried voice flooded into my head.
Chrissie where the hell are you?!
I'm almost there Aiden but I need help, there was a rogue attack and Madison is unconscious, I brought 2 new shifters please don't harm them they didn't attack, and 2 unconscious Rouge boddies
I informed just as the pack house came into view, Aiden rushed over taking off his shirt,hurriedly taking Maddie from me and handing me his shirt. He eyed the twins behind me and ordered them to take the rogues to the dungeons and to come find us afterwards.
We barely arrived at the pack hospital before an terrible looking Jason rushed over, tears covering his once handsome face, he gently yet urgently took Madisons fragile body from Aiden before rushing to the emergency room.
Only now did I allow myself to think about everything that happened this afternoon and I slowly started breaking down. When Aiden saw me crying the wiped my tears away with his thumb while whispering sweet nothings to calm me.
2weeks later
Madison was still unconscious in the hospital, Jason never leaved her side, they even got him a bed next to hers to sleep in. Aiden doubled the patrols to make sure no rogues could cross our border.
I on the other hand tended not to eat regularly, I lack sleep because of all the nightmares that comes to hunt me when I close my eyes and most of my days are spent on days of silence between me and Jason just hoping Maddie wakes up soon. I really think he blames me for Madisons state, but I blame myself too I should've protected her.
Logan and Luke on the other hand became like my little brothers for I am very possessive and protective over them, so much that sometimes Aiden would get jealous.
I was cut off with my inner rambling when Jason's happy voice urgently flooded my head.
I jumped off of the stool I was sitting on and ran full speed to the hospital. When I got there an excited Jason was in the waiting room looking like he was about to attack the door.
"What's going on?" I asked with a hoarse voice due to the lack of use. Then the worst possible thing happened. Jason started screaming in pain doctors were rushing in and out of Madisons room.
I held Jass in a tight embrace as he screamed and cried for his mate. Aiden arrived about 30 minutes later with the twins in tow.
We sat there all night everyone stressed too much to be able to sleep. Jason and I cried the most. Aiden and the twins would take turns to comfort us and go on coffee runs.
Jason's sobs never died down and mine was just soft but never stopped...
It was 4:30 am when Dr. Brown entered the room hope filled Jass' eyes but when he saw the look on Docs face he backed into a corner repeating the words 'no and I can't feel her anymore'
"I am dearly sorry to inform you that Ms. Madison McCain did not make it." I was fozen,my best friend is... Dead. I'll never be able to laugh and joke with her ever again.
Aiden held me in his arms but not even that calmed my broken soul... I couldn't imagine going anywhere without my bestie... She was the first person to actually care for me...
I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed until there was no more tears to cry, my throat was dry and my head was hurting. But I deserved this pain...
I should have put her safety first... My best friend is dead and it's all my fault...
