Chapter 2- Can I...?

I wrote her letters. Bought her some chocolate and I gave the letter to Iyah and told her to give it to Maxine which says:

"Dear Maxine, meet me after school at the school clinic.

-S.A.

Iyah gave the letter to Maxine and she said that Maxine was willing to go and was curious.

During class, all I was thinking about is Maxine. I was nervous because I didn't think of what I will do when we meet after school. Maybe I'll freeze, maybe I'll just humiliate my self. Who the fuck knows?

*Bell rings*

"Oh shit. This is it. Should I be a man and go, or be a pussy and don't go?" I say to Iyah nervously.

"You should" she replies.

I walked to the school clinic and there sitting on a chair in the waiting room alone, was Maxine. I really wanted to walk the opposite direction. But it seems it's to late because she noticed me.

"Oh, hey there Ivor!"

"What are you doing here Maxine?"

"Well Iyah gave me a letter and it says that someone wants to meet me here after school. What about you?"

"Well, actually, I'm the one that sent that letter,"

Suddenly the atmosphere in the room was filled with awkwardness.

"Oh, well. I don't know what to say."

"But, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, I guess."

"Can I..."

Suddenly I froze. It was humiliating. I saw it coming though.

"Can you... what?"

"Can I go out with you?"

"Sure, why not?"

"Really?! This Saturday?"

"I have no plans this Saturday. Pick me up at around 7:00?"

"I will."

This feeling is great. When the person you like is giving you a chance, It's just awesome.
