Beep beep beep
That's how my day began, just like all the weekdays for the past 12 years. The annoying chirping of the device next to my bed. It's Monday morning. I hate Monday's to begin with, but if I knew what the week had in store for me, I would have just stayed in bed.

Beep beep beep

The chirping of the alarm continued.I slapped my hand against my phone, angrily at the sound disturbing my sleep.

I pulled the covered over my head and rolled over with a groan. Why does it have to be Monday? And why does Christmas break have to be over?

"Kayla you better be up!" A pounding at my door sounded through the room. Mom never fails to make sure I'm awake.

"Yeah...I'm up." Unfortunately. I slide lazily out of bed and onto the floor. I rummage through my closet  collecting a sweater and jeans, I open the door to the hallway. I can smell the fresh addicting scent of brewing coffee coming through the door. Barefooted, I make my way to the bathroom to get ready physically for the day, mentally I'm never ready. I'm like two years behind.

I follow my typical routine, before heading to our simple kitchen. Our two bedroom apartment is simple and never chancing, just like our lives. Everyday is the same: wake up, school, work, study, sleep, and repeat. What I wouldn't do for something exciting to happen. pour my coffee into a travel mug before I collect my supplies for the day.

My mom stepped out into the room as I was slipping on my shoes. I looked up at her tired aging face. For as long as I can remember it has just been the two of us. I don't even remember my father, mom says he left not long after I was born. She hardly talks about him, but when she does I can still see the hurt in her blue eyes.

She's always worked hard to provide for us. Working two jobs morning and night, as a secretary and as a waitress. I worry for her sometimes, she never goes out and is always paranoid when I'm not in constant communication with her.
She smooths our her skirt before placing a kiss on my head.

"Have a great day sweetheart, be safe. Call if anything happens."

"Mom I'll be fine stop worrying it's just school. A he'll center for hormonal teenagers with bad attitudes." I laugh

"I know ...but please." To save myself an argument I agree. We walk out together locking the door behind us. She heads to work in her beat up little car while I head to the bus stop. Soon I won't have to ride this yellow traffic hazard. I've been saving up for my own vehicle and after this weeks paycheck I will have just enough.

The air is still crisp with cold even for Texas. I hate the cold, I wish spring was here. The sky became more and more overcast. Is it supposed to rain today? I pull my coat closer to my body waiting for the sun to come out and warm me or the bus to come soon. Bouncing around I can see a small yellow blip in the distance.

Caw Caw
A black crow flys overhead before landing in the big oak tree next to me. I glance up at it and wish I hadn't. The little devil bird was staring right at me. Creepy. I've always been told staring into the eyes of a crow is bad luck, especially when it stares back. The bird gave another call before flying away just as the bus arrived.

I hurry up the steps out of the cold wind and eery scenery. I looked around the seats, spotting a familiar brown head of curls towards the back with the other seniors. Daniela has been one of my closest friends since I moved here. While overly energetic, she is still once of the nicest people I've met.

"Hey Kayla! How was your break!" She smiles as she scoots over for me to sit.

"Not bad, the usual. Grandma came over for Christmas and I picked up some extra shifts at work. How was yours?" The rest of the ride was her talking about everything she got and the ski trip her and her family went on. I tuned her out most of the time focusing more on the soul warming coffee that was touching my lips.

Piling off the bus I looked up at the familiar building. Sterling Public Schools. Home of the Warriors. It's a small school, which only means everybody knows everyone and everyone's business. Daniela and I said our goodbyes as we headed in opposite directions. We unfortunately have different home rooms. I walk through the open door, greeting my science teacher along the way.

I take my seat towards the back of the room. To my moms request, she doesn't really like me calling attention to myself and I've never cared for it anyways. The bell rings and I pull out my notes, collecting my assignments from break. I'm always prepared...for the most part.

The intercom sounds and the morning announcements begin. At the end Mrs. Burton hobbles in with three sets of footsteps behind her.

"Class we have some new students joining us today. Please help them around, we may be a smaller town but it's confusing just the same." Mrs. Burton our home room teacher introduced. New students? That's rare, there hasn't been a new student in this school system since me and that was 4 years ago.

I glanced up from my notes and saw three sets of gorgeous eyes. Piercing blue, vibrant green, and dark brown almost black I'd say.

What's worst is they were all staring at me cutting through my soul. Well. Damn.

I follow them with my eyes as they take the seats in the back also. I can help but notice how attractive each one of them is. They must be related somehow. All of them were tall and muscular, they would be perfect for the sports team here. Blue eyes was very fair skinned with blonde hair. Brown eyes had sun kissed skin and short black hair. And green eyes? There are no words. A nice complexion with brown hair.

I watch as they slowly get closer and closer. Out of the whole room they had to sit by me? I tuck my head down trying to hide my blush behind my long  hair. Ive never in my life seen men this godly gorgeous except for in movies. I keep my eyes straight ahead as I hear the chairs scoot back. I can hear the other students whispering to each other, especially the female students.

"Alright now settle down. Y'all have only been gone for a few weeks, don't act like you have forgotten my classroom rules. Now, it's time to jump back into our lessons. Let's start with cellular respiration."

I tap my pencil nervously in my hand, listening to the lecture. My pencil slips out of my grasp and I mentally curse myself. I bend down to grab it but another set of hands beat me to it. I look into the blue eyes and muttered a small thanks.

"Your welcome beautiful." A thick accent voice follows. I wonder where they are from. I turn my attention back to the teacher but he wasn't having it.

"So what is your name?"

"Kayla."

"Kayla, I'm Vladimir, but you can call me Vlad. And these are my cousins. The one that looks like he is on steroids is Alarick and the one looking like he's plotting something, possibly my death, is Luci." I smile at both of them receiving one back. Only one.

"Don't call me that, if you are going to share my identity it's Lucifer." I glance over at the green eyed man. Lucifer... as in the devil? A scowl laid on his face as he glares at Vladimir. He glanced over towards me and I looked away. He doesn't seem very friendly.

"Well, welcome to Sterling, I hope y'all like it here It takes some time to get used to here but I'm sure y'all will like it."

"Already am." Alarick smiles at my and winked. So he's a flirt then I take it. I bet they all are. I listen to the teacher go on about the processes and outcomes of cellular respiration.

I take detailed notes throughout the class but I noticed they are not taking no

"So tell me are you a virgin?"  Alarick's question caught me completely off guard.

"Excuse me!" I stood up voiced raised. This guy just met me why in the hell would he ask me such a thing!

"Miss Orenda, is there a problem? Or have you forgotten the class rules as well?" I blush with embarrassment and anger and apologized to the teacher. She gives the four of us a stern look before continuing the lesson. I hate being called out.

Alarick scoots his chair closer, a smirk painted over his face. He leans over and whispers in my ear. I froze. When the bell rings I don't hesitate. I rush out of the room still feeling their eyes on me. His phrase still lingering in my head.

Your going to be mine.

What the hell did he mean by that?
