Damien sat in his bedroom, watching his team members through separate viewing portals. He could see them, but they couldn't see him. The sharpshooter, a vampire, was passing his test with flying colors. The thief was still planning, although she looked confident enough. The wizard's skill had already been tested, and he was ready.

Damien's twin sister, Amingethia, called Ming by him and her friends,  suddenly opened the door and walked in without knocking. "How's The C Team working?" She asked, smirking.

Damien rolled his eyes. "Just because I went for a subtle team that won't point directly to us doesn't mean that I don't have a chance."

Their Dad, the Devil himself, had assigned both of them to stealing something very important. Whoever succeeded would be in his good graces. Damien's sister, predictably, after receiving this assignment, had immediately gone and recruited the most powerful demons in all of Hell. And promised them enough to make them completely loyal to her.

Damien, on the other hand, had chosen a different tactic. Mostly because there was no point in trying to use amateurs to beat pros.

"I'm not stupid." Ming sat down beside him, on his bed. "You also have a team of demons. And a team of three ghouls and a reaper. I noticed this. And you know what I think?"

"What do you think?" Damien replied, mostly to humor her.

"I think that two of them are decoys, but you don't want me to know which two. And also, if one team fails, you have a backup." Ming crossed her arms, looking pleased with herself.

"Two backups, actually, in that scenario." Damien corrected.

Ming laughed. "You don't actually expect me to believe that you're planning on using the mortal girl, do you? There is no way it would be able to do this."

"She's one of those gifted mortals." He reminded her mildly. "Skilled enough to pull this off, but guaranteed to get preferential treatment if she can't. Which means she won't break, because they wouldn't hurt her, and she knows full well that I would."

"Touché." Ming admitted. "The mortals are definitely their greatest weakness..."

"Exactly." Damien smirked.

"But anyway, I know your game. I know that you're still not using either of them. A team of two is not enough."

"I got her the vampire for backup. And a wizard in case anything goes wrong."

"Three, then. That's still not enough. Not for this job."

The thief'll do fine." Damien replied confidently.

"How do you know?" Ming asked suspiciously, thrown off by his confidence enough to momentarily forget that she didn't believe that he was using the mortal.

"Because she's so scared of me that she won't do any less." He smirked. "She knows exactly what'll happen if she fails."

Ming laughed. "That's one way to do it. Personally, though, I prefer my people being complete loyal to me. And skilled. Not mortal. I honestly don't think you have much of a chance, brother." She got up, and left.

Damien shrugged. Maybe she was right. But then again, maybe there was more to the girl than met the eye.
