*Wesley's POV*
This was not happening. Not again at least. Sighing I got up from my chair and walked over to a window.
"Look son, I hate this as much as you do. Do you think I wanted this?" Jeff muttered lighting a cigar and putting it in his mouth. I could see the stress clear on his face, a part of me felt sympathetic towards him.
"Yeah, yeah I know." I snapped looking out into the smokey town that I called home. Truth is I didn't want to leave, after countless years of running away I finally felt safe here.
"I know this is hard on you-"
"Save it." I began walking out of his crappy old office when he pushed past me and blocked the door with his foot. "Jeff, I'm done talking about this." I said irritably.
Sighing he looked down and roughly rubbed his face with his hand, "Just hear me out.." Defeated, I gestured for him to continue. "Logan's found out your here." His face turned pale as the words came out, "They cornered Dean by the pier last week and they've been on the lookout for you ever since-"
"What the f*ck Jeff this happened last week and I'm only just hearing about it!?" I shouted. To say that I was pissed off would be an understatement, "Why the hell did you not tell me about this before?" My eyes turning into slits.
"I figured maybe they'd give up after a couple'a days, apparently their fringe has been in and out of here a couple'a times. Ricks been off so we haven't had a man guarding the house for weeks, so it was easy access for him." He said, looking as tensed as ever.
I cut him off again, "This is Logan we're talking about; he never gives up." I fell back on the worn out couch taking a huge gulp from the bottle of alcohol in my hand. The icy cold liquid burned down my throat, wincing I looked up to see Jeff getting his gun out from one of the drawers under his desk. "What're you doing?"
"Look Wes, I know you don't want to do this. But we got no other choice here right? You gotta get your self outta here, and safe." He urged. Handing me his gun, I took the metal object and tucked it in the pocket of my jeans. "When your mother left me with you, I promised her that I would keep you safe and out of this sh*t."
So all this time he was just looking out for me by sending me off. Guilt washed over me like a shower, sudden and cold.
"You know you could've just told me all this before and saved me from getting pissed off and snapping at you." I said folding my arms.
"I just wanna keep my promise to your mom, I owe it to her. Get out of this sh* hole, live a normal life, do what kids your age do. Enjoy life, do what you like. I cant have you living like this anymore, you didn't choose this and I blame it on myself for pushing you into this." He put his hands on my shoulders when suddenly the door burst open and echoes of gun shots and screaming echoed through the whole building.
Two men barged into the office and shot heedlessly, my heart raced like every other time as I quickly got my gun out of my pocket. From the side I saw Jeff do the same. I aimed at one of them, shot him in the leg and began to make a run for it when I saw Jeff's body fall backwards,"Jeff!"
Jeff had got shot. I looked around aimlessly for the culprit but heard trainers skidding down the corridor. He had escaped, however that was the least of my worries, running back to the office I saw Jeff's body lying on the floor.
I was sitting on my knees beside Jeff's body when I heard something vibrate. The d*ckhead who had ran off had dropped his phone on the way. I reached over and grabbed it quickly hoping it would lead me to his boss. Boy was I right.
"Tony, is the job done?" A cracky, country accent filled the room. Lucky for me I knew exactly who the owner of that voice was.
Logan.
