The buzz of the cicadas emitting their somber drone of summers sweltering oppression.
Grass mowing, flowers growing, mosquito's biting, kids swimming, baseball playing, seniors fishing, camping nights, bicycle riding, marshmallow roasting..
Summer..
Summer..
Summer..
It was sometime during summer when it had rained. I felt my toes dig into the freshly mowed grass, inhaling in the sweet fragrance of magnolia that filled the heave summer air, I sipped my drink letting the ice cold liquid refresh my throat. When suddenly the clouds thundered and rain began to pour down, by the time I came to my full senses I was soaked. It felt good. I looked up at the sky which had now turned steel blue and closed my eyes for a second, when I felt arms wrap around my waist.
Instinctively I flinched and stepped away but the grip was too tight.
"Boo," he whispered in my ear. My eyes widened the slightest and he chuckled obviously enjoying my discomfort. He rested his chin on my shoulder blade, and sighed, "I was beginning to think you forgot about me."
"You're the only conceited douchbag that I know, how could I possibly forget you?" I mumbled turning around to face him.
He let out a guffawing laugh, then put an eyebrow up questioningly. I responded by shrugging to which he smirked. "You don't mean that," he said stepping closer, his eyes meeting mine leaving me in awe. I felt captivated as cheesy as it sounds, they were a nice blend of deep green and brown, almost forest green. I nervously looked down at my feet trying hard to avoid eye contact.
He stepped a little closer so our toes were touching, my heart beat increasing although I tried to remain calm. The last thing I wanted was him knowing how I felt.
He placed his index finger under my chin making me look at him. As soon as our eyes met again I quickly moved my eyes to the hem of his t-shirt.
Yes, I was standing centimetres away from a really cute guy, motionless staring idly at his shirt.
He leaned in further making our foreheads touch. We stood like that for a few seconds, our breathes mingling.
"I missed you." He whispered, pecking my forehead. My body stiffened, I got this strange feeling in my stomach, it felt like a horde of tiny little butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Of course not literally, the thought of having a herd of Lepidoptera inside my stomach was quite sickening to be honest.
I swallowed hard, and finally found the nerve to look him in the eyes. I studied his face heedfully, he had changed a lot over summer. I stared at his perfectly chizzled jawline, then at his perfectly straight boned nose, then at his pale pink, full lips. Everything about him was perfect not to mention his eyes... I blushed realising that I had shamelessly been staring at him.
He had an impish look about him, a gleam of mischievousness sparkled in his eyes. He wrapped his left arm tightly around my waist pulling me towards him so our chests collided then using his hand he pushed some rebellious strands of hair out of my face and intensely stared at me.
"What?" I questioned feeling self conscious.
"I could hold you forever." he replied nonchalantly keeping a tight hold around my waist.
"AURA!"
My eyes snapped open.
