Jacob and I hadn't moved from the couch about an hour and a half later, and I was practically asleep.
"Are you seriously that tired?" Jacob asked, snickering as I blinked rapidly.
"S-shut up," I slurred, snuggling against his hard stomach. "You're stomach is uncomfortable."
"So-ory." He said, not sounding sorry at all.
I shut my eyes and sighed though my nose. I almost managed to get to sleep but the sounds of Jacob texting away on his phone made me feel less tired.
Jacob quietly moved a stray hair behind my ear and murmured, "My friends'll be here soon."
I groaned, burying my face into his thin tank top, "I don't care."
The feeling of Jacob's warm fingers running over my face and through my hair was enough to finally lull me to sleep.
I kept thinking about how strange my dreams had been lately; there were like memories but with something that I couldn't quite place. Almost like something from someone else's point of view. The latest dream that I had had was undoubtedly about the car crash that ended both of my parents' lives.
But I did not remember a French person at all; not from the crowd that gathered around my bleeding body or any doctors that took care of me at the hospital.
I frowned in my sleep, feeling irritated when I heard voices.
There was the sound of a door opening and closing, and I was still conscious of the fact that my arms were still around Jacob's waist and I was sleeping against his abdomen with my legs almost hanging over the edge of the couch.
I could distinctively make out about five male voices and I stirred slightly when one of them practically shouted, "Why'd you just run out of lunch like - Woah, who's the chick?"
I could hear Jacob's annoyance when he said, "She's my sister. And shut up, she's sleeping."
"I thought you only had two sisters," a new voice joined in.
"I do. Well, she's like my best friend," Jacob answered.
I smiled at that.
"I thought I was your best friend," someone murmured half-playfully.
Jacob scoffed; not moving from his position that consisted of me sprawled across his lap. "Like hell you'd be my best friend,"
Someone punched Jacob's arm, "Ow!"
"She's cute."
"If you touch her, I'll kill you."
I stirred again, opening my eyes slightly to see a pair of chocolate brown ones staring straight back at me. I almost screamed as I sat upright immediately, staring back at the person before I narrowed my eyes.
"What's your problem?! I could've gotten a heart at - " I paused abruptly when I took in five shirtless guys who were staring at me with amusement. "Jacob, why are there hot shirtless guys in your living room?"
"Our living room," Jacob corrected with a smile. "And they're my friends."
"You think I'm hot?" one inquired, leaning forwards slightly with a smile.
"Yes." I said plainly, blinking at him.
Jacob rolled his eyes, "Jackie, this is Quil, Embry, Collin, Seth, and Brady."
I scooted away from Jacob slightly, "Why are you all, like, half-naked? Not that I mind much, but it's still kinda weird."
"You're kinda weird," the one who I now knew as Collin stated, avoiding the question.
