"What? I'm not going to do this, Absolutely NO! A big fat no no no. That's final. I'm not doing this."

"Please Naina, you're our last hope." My friend Aanya begged me with her pleading eyes. I made a firm resolve not to melt this time.

"Miss Naina, You are a suitable candidate for this job. I've recruited several agents in my lifetime and I've never been wrong about anyone. I know you will carry out this task wonderfully." A middle aged man, Mr. Khanna said. Aanya introduced her to me as her boss.

"Why me then? You are the one who's the secret agent here, not me. A fully trained spy, perfect for the job. Then why me?"

"Um.. you see.." She started, struggling for words. "It's not that easy."

"No I don't see. How is that not easy? If it's difficult for you how on earth do you expect me to do it?" I narrowed my eyes. "What is it you are not telling me?"

"You see, my cover was blown and he was beyond mad. He swore to kill me the next time he saw me. I am blacklisted by his gang. With great difficulty I escaped. That is why I can't do this, I can't even if I want to."

"Still why me? Don't you have any other agents in your agency? Why am I being used as the bali ka bakra (sacrificial lamb)?"

"There is the problem. We had a traitor who ratted us out to him. He gave out each of our information to him. Any of us if we go there, we would be recognized immediately even in disguise. So quite impossible for one of us to do this. And if we get caught, we won't be killed instantly. Let's say, he likes to play with his food before he eats. In short, you wouldn't want to be caught alive by him." Mr Khanna shuddered when he finished speaking.

Now I really felt afraid. If they, highly trained and battle hardened people are afraid of this mafia gang and their boss then he really must be something. How I can last in there all alone?

"You will not be alone. We already have sent a decoy there to infiltrate. He is one of the few who's information is still protected because of our high security firewall. He passes us important information time to time. He has blended there so nicely you would never know he's one of us. He'll guide you in your mission and be there to cover up if anything goes wrong. He is in one of the top positions in the company, so naturally he has the boss's trust. Nobody will suspect him." Mr. Khanna said, most likely reading my mind.

Oh thank you, that's very reassuring. It's fun going in the lion's den to lure him out all while prodding and poking isn't it?

"What will I have to do though? And how?" I sighed, giving in.

"It's simple." Aanya chirped. "You will become his secretary, get close to him, find out his private details and dealings, and give us an opening seeing a perfect opportunity. We'll take over the rest. Very simple."

"Sure darling, very simple." Note the sarcasm. "And what will you do then? Make an entry like agent 007 and arrest him?"

"Arrest him? He's too dangerous to be put behind bars. He'll buy his way out anytime. He has the judiciary deep in his pockets. It'll only be a one time opportunity. It's time to finish him off for good." All the humor was gone from Khanna's voice. He really looked deadly at the moment. And scary too.

I gasped very loudly.

"What? You're going to kill him? Like for real? You're not really serious, are you?"

"You think I'm going to let a dreaded criminal like that roam free? Didn't you always say criminals should be wiped off the face of the earth?"

"Yes I said, but actually doing that... I am not defending him but how would you get away with that?"
