I don't think I have never been more nervous or excited for today. Looking up at this huge building that's going to be my home for the next couple of years. Tree Valley University, home of the mighty Werewolves, is the place I'm going to call home. This have been my dream school since I can remember. Specially since it is a hour away from my family, I couldn't think of a better university.

"So, are you going to just stand there and day dream, or are you going to help me", said Ricky my older brother while picking up my boxes.

"I mean, you know I don't have any upper body strength, so I think you got it", I chuckled.

"Oh, my babies are all grown up. What am I going to now that y'all are gone", said my Mom while crying.

"Mom will you stop the crying already? You know that I am just a hour away", I say while hugging her.

My mom Jenny Johnson a strong woman I tell you, but just like the day Ricky went off to college she would not stop crying, I do not see those tears drying up anytime soon.

"Mom, will you clam down? Your favorite child is still going to be with you", Ricky says sending a smile to my mom and I.

"Ricky, please you wish you were the favorite. We all know Baxter is. Y'all will go before he will", said Mom giving Alex a snap on the head.

"Ow!, Mom really the dog is your favorite", Alex complained

Ricky Johnson, my older brother and the goofball of the family. You would think being 24 years old he would be more mature, but no. Him and I became really close since our father left us.
Alex Johnson turn into a father figure to me over the years with him being the oldest of us all. Being 25 years old with is blue eyes and blond hair that he got from dad, he had most of the girls after him. He has been really busy lately because of his football schedule. I guess I didn't tell you that he is a famous football player. He plays for the Houston Texans as their quarterback. He took time off from his training camp to come drop me off at college. I know he has a crush on someone, but he won't tell who it is no matter what.

"You bet he is, and he is cheaper than both of you kids", Mom say.

"Whatever, let's take this stuff to your dorm room Rosie", Ricky said while walking to the front door.

"You better be careful with that ",I yelled running after him.

Once we made it through the door, we headed straight towards the elevators. No way was I taking the stairs with all my boxes. The good thing about moving in early before other students is that there is no line for the elevator and it is not so crazy busy. You are probably wondering why I am moving in early before everyone else. Well I joined the band program they have here. Being in band in high school was a amazing experience, so why not do it in college. Walking through the door of my dorm room I am greeted by a smothering hug by my best friend Ava.

"ROSIE! AHH! Can you believe it. We are finally college freshman", Ava said.

"You won't be that excited the week after school starts, trust me", Ricky said moving past us to put the boxes on the ground.

"Oh be quiet, you party pooper. Let me have my moment", Ava said while letting me go to go hug my mom and brother.

"I'm just saying",Ricky said patting her back.

Let me introduce you to my best friend Ava Mitchell. She got fiery red hair and and pretty green eyes. She has a very spunky don't mess with me attitude. Ava and I have been friends since the fourth grade. We went through middle school and high school together. Also we were in the band program together as well. We both played the trumpet in band. Deciding to go to college together and join the band here was a no brainier for us.

"Ava darling, how are you?", Mom giving Ava a hug while crying again.

"I'm doing great Ms. Jenny. How are you?", said Ava.

"Oh no, don't get her started again", Ricky glaring at Ava.

"Ricky shut up, will you. Once you have a child you will understand how I feel", Mom giving Alex a glare through her tears.

"Yeah, that's not going to happen anytime soon", Ricky rolling his eyes

"Whatever, let's go get the rest of your sister's things", Mom said.

Two more trips to the car and back all my things are finally in my dorm. My Mom and Ava helped me unpacked. While Ricky sat on his butt eating popcorn and watching Netflix on his phone. Around 4 o'clock everything was put in place and I had to say goodbye to Mom, Ricky, and Alex.

"I will miss you guys so much" giving Ricky, Alex, and Mom a hug.

" We will to Rosie. Don't forget to call us for time to time" Mom giving my a kiss on the cheek.

"Now Rosie, there going to be boys. I want you to stay away from them you hear me. They are nothing but...", Ricky was trying to explain to me but Mom pushed him out the door.

"Have a great time sweetie", Mom waved by the elevator.

Once I shut the door, it finally settled in that I was on my own for the first time. It's scary to think. I walked over to my bed sat down and look over at Ava.

"What time is the band meeting again", I asked,

"The email said that it's going to be at 5 and we are going to meet at the stadium",Ava said looking at the email on her phone.

"Well it's already 4:30 so let's go", I explained.

Ava and I made it to the stadium by 4:55pm. Once we got there we saw a big group of people seating in the stands. Walking over there I grew really nervous. I have always been a shy person, so doing things new always made me uncomfortable. It takes me awhile to warm up to new things and even people. Ava and I made it to the stands and we sat down were the label said trumpets.

"Good afternoon Werewolves Band", the Band Director Randy Jones yelled through a microphone.

"I hoped y'all have settled in nicely. I have called this meeting to do a little introduction before we start summer band camp tomorrow. First I'm going to introduce myself. Hi, my names is Randy Jones and I have been the Head Band Director of this program for 10 years now. To my left there is Mrs. Amy Smith the Second Band Director and to my right there is Mr.Jake Rhodes the Third Band Director. Next to Jake is Mr. Logan Peters the Drum Line Director. I am super excited to get this years band camp started" Mr. Jones was saying. While he was giving his introduction speech the Tree Valley football team started to walk out.

I turned my attention off of Mr. Jones and onto the football team. Out of the corner or my eye I saw the person I would never thought I would see again.

Duke Matthews
