I'm late. Again. Why does this always happen to me? It's official, I'm dead. They're going to kill me. As I'm literally powerwalking down what seems the longest street in the entire world, I look at my watch and walk even faster when I see it's 9:45. I'm half an hour away and I'm supposed to be there in 15 minutes.
"Zayn! Why are you always late to everything we have to do?!" Here we go again, my day starting with Ed yelling at me, lovely way to start a day; did I mention it's a Sunday? It should be illegal to have to work or even get out of bed on a Sunday!
"I'm sorry okay?! I got up late and..." I faded out a bit when I saw Ed's raise his eyebrows at me. "What? My alarm didn't go off..." He raised his eyebrows even more, if that's possible. "And my hair takes time! I had to rush it this morning, I don't wake up with it like this!"
"Just get in the studio Zayn. You're late enough and we've only got an hour and a half so you guys can go home for dinner and 'family time'" When he said 'family time', he used 'air quote marks' and looked at Liam who just came out of the studio and smiled.
Finally after a long hour and a half and retakes and retakes, we were free to go. Thank the Lord! As usual, I hurried out of the studio and bumped into someone and we both fell to the floor. I noticed she dropped loads of sheet music when we fell, so I picked most of them up for her as she was already picking some of them up. "These yours?" I said as I handed them to her.
"No, there for the next artist that's in there in about 10 minutes. My boss and their manager like to be really organised" She said, looking at her watch and then the floor.
"Are you okay?" I tilted my head to the slightly to the side. She nodded, not taking her eyes off the watch. "You don't look it, and something's obviously wrong" I said quieter.
She sighed and spoke quietly. "It's just, I had really big plans today. Family plans and, and I was forced to work today, my boss apparently 'couldn't get anyone else in on such short notice'" She used the air quote marks that Ed used earlier. "I just, just don't want to work tonight, it's the first proper family day with my whole family since my dad came out of the army, and, and..." Her voice faded out and started to break. I pulled her into my shoulder and rubbed her back to try to stop her crying.
"Why didn't you say you couldn't?" I whispered in her ear, not expecting an answer.
"I was worried that I'd lose this job and the boss hasn't really liked me since I started, I wanted to get in her good books" She whispered but loud enough to hear. There was quite a long pause, so i slowly took the sheet music from her hand and put in on a table near by.
"Go home, you have people to see. No buts, just go home, please" She looked at me, red puffy eyes from when she was crying.
"But, but, I...can't. I have to work" I laughed slightly.
"Just go home, I'll deal with your boss" She smiled at me and put her bag on her shoulder and started to walk away. I tapped her shoulder and smiled at her. "I was just wondering, would you like to go out some time? With me?" She bit her lip and smiled. God, that girl liked to smile. She nodded and gave me a piece of paper and walked off. I was looking at the paper, which had her number and name on it when Harry yelled.
"ZAYN! COME ON!" I looked at the paper one last time. Sophia. What a beautiful name. I ran up to catch up to Harry. "We have been waiting in the van, waiting for you, for 15 minutes. What's that?" He took the paper. "Oooh, Zayny's going to go on a date with....Sophia! Guys, Zayn's going to go on a date!" It was true, I was. I smiled when I saw her sat in the bus station waiting for her bus home,
