Tik-Tok Tik-Tok. Is this class ever going to end? I was snapped out of my thoughts as my History teacher, Coach Hector, slapped his hand down on my desk making a loud thud noise. I looked up to see him looking at me with a really pissed face. Okay someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

"Day dreaming again Mrs. Smith?" Seems like he is on the sassy side today. Well guess what Coach? Two can play at this game. "No sir, just praying to whatever God is out there, that you will actually say something that is actually interesting." I smirked as I heard a bunch of different things in the background like oh, ah, or burn. As you can see, I don't sugarcoat what I say. Sometimes it's a disadvantage, but at times like this I'm glad I speak my mind.

Coach Hector looked back at the class and everyone immediately shut up. Everyone here is absolutely terrified of Coach. I mean everyone except me. He is 6'4 weighing in at probably 240 pounds (pure muscule) so I can see why people are scared, but I've seen scarier people. He probably would intimidate me if my mother didn't have the job she has. I mean come on, she works as a detective so I see a lot of convicted killers that are a lot bigger and scarier than him. So to me, this guy is nothing.

I smiled innocently up at Coach. He just turned around and slowly walked back to his desk. Seems like I won this round. While I was throwing a party in my head for winning, I didn't realize Coach Hector started staring at me. I turned towards him and glared.

In the middle of me glaring at Coach Hector, the school phone started ringing. While still staring at me he answered the phone. "Finally!" He screamed out while slamming the phone back down. "Shelby to the principles office," Coach Hector said while smiling like there's no tomorrow. I guess he really does hate me if he is smiling that big just because I'm leaving the room. Well the feelings mutual buddy.

As I was gathering my things to put in my bag, my friend, Zach, came over to my desk. He bent down and picked something up off the floor. Only when he handed the item to me, did I realize that it was my journal. It must have fallen when I wasn't paying attention.

"Thanks" I whispered so lowly I didn't even think he would have heard, but I guess he did.

"No problem, but what did you do this time to get sent to the office?" Zach chuckled and shook his head when he finished.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't remember doing anything to to terribly bad. I just shrugged my shoulders, picked my bag up and walked to the door.

When I opened the door, I turned back to Coach, put on the biggest fakest smile I could muster up and said "Hey gramps, you might not want to smile like that again. You could see your wrinkles when you did that." As soon as I said that I darted down the surprisingly abandoned hallway.

I slowly trudged to the office. Once I finally got there, I slowly opened the principles door, only to be shocked at who is standing in front of me.My mom's partner, Detective Todd and my mom's captain, Greg.

Ok most people wouldn't be shocked to see their mom's fellow co-workers, but the last time I saw anyone from her work was seven months ago. Mother doesn't like mixing her personal life with work after this incident that happened, so I never see anyone from her work anymore.

After I finally recovered from my shock, I walked into the room and closed the door behind me. Todd and Greg were in a deep conversation so they didn't notice me standing there.

"We have to tell her Todd, it's her mother-" Greg all but yelled at Todd. At this point I got scared. They are talking about my mom. Oh no what happened?!

"But it is going to hurt her-" I couldn't take it anymore so I interpreted Todd.

"What about my mother? What happened, is she okay?" I didn't stop for them to answering any, just kept firing question after question. Only then did they notice I was in the room. They turned their bodies towards me and just stood there.
