I didn't want to knock out little Johnathan O'Riley, but he left me no choice. He kept rambling about how he was going to ask my best friend out and then bang her.

Usually I would careless about his complaining, because it would be over some gym game that I beat the crap out of him in. And usually I would ignore him because, who cares? You got beat, deal with it.

But this time was different. He was talking about my best friend. My best friend since... FOREVER. I literally know so much more about her then that little douche could ever find out in his entire lifetime. So, sorry for thinking that my best friend deserves someone better.

So, thinking that, I introduced him to my two other best friends. Bang, and Pow. Aka Left Fist, and Right Fist. I think those three got to know each other very well, if I do say so myself.

"Do you know how bad you injured Johnathan?" Principal Brown asked leaning over her desk, and revealing too much under her shirt.

I contemplated a little bit, trying to find the right words to say. I don't need to be getting in anymore trouble then what I'm in now. "It shouldn't of been too bad. Considering he's the captain of the football team, and is an ox."

Ms. Brown sighed and then sat down in her chair. Thank God too. I thought I was about to go blind from the unneeded view. "You broke his nose, and then gave him a black eye." She sat back in her chair and looked at me for a little while in silence. "I'm afraid after what you did today, you're suspended from the next couple of lacrosse games."

I stood up from my chair so fast, I knocked it over. "You can't do that Ms. Brown!" I protested.

"And why not?" She leaned forward from her chair and then looked me dead in the eye with her ugly-old green eyes.

"I'm MVP, and if I'm not in those couple of games, we could loose, and then not make it to championships." I protested some more. "I have to be in those games."

"Maybe you should of thought of that before you knocked out Johnathan." She said leaning back in her chair and smiling.

I slammed the front door, and stormed into my room completely ignoring the looks and questions from my mother. I want to yell at Ms. Brown, and demand to not be suspended anymore.

As if my day couldn't of gotten any more shitty, my little brother walks into my room.

"Mom wants to know why you're so pissed off." He said looking down at his phone probably texting his four girlfriends.

"Tell her its nothing." I said throwing my backpack into the corner of my room and sitting on my bed.

"Okay." He said turning around and nearly hitting his head on the door because he can't pay attention to where he's going.

I so can't wait to move out of this house. Thank God I only have one year left, and a scholarship to a good university. Then I can be 3,000 miles or so, away from them. But there's just one down side to that. Tae Tae. I'd be leaving her and her little brother Timmy. Whom I am also best friends with, but don't really get to talk to because he lives with his mom. Anyways, the worse thing is that Taylor's going to a college all the way on the other side of the world.

Zzzzzt. My thoughts were interrupted by the feeling of my phone vibrate on my chest. I picked it up and looked at the notification.

It was a message from Tae Tae.

"Hey, wanna come hang out? Or do you have lacrosse practice to night?" It read.

"Nope. I'm suspended from it, and yeah. Lets hang out." I replied.

"Awesome! You wanna drive or no?"

"Nah, I'll drive."

"You sure?"

"Yes Tae Tae I'm sure. I'll be over in five minutes."

After I sent that message, I quickly ran to the bathroom to make sure I looked decent. Fabulous. I have a giant bruise on the side of my face from Johnathan trying to fight back.

Key Word:

Trying.

I grabbed the car keys to my Jeep and headed of to Tae Tae's house. She'll love me for bringing the Jeep, and I'll love her hair blowing around everywhere. Its cute on her... don't judge me.

I honked the horn, and Tae Tae came running out of her front door. She hopped in the shotgun seat and then buckled herself in. She flashed me a smile. "So, where you wanna go?"

I looked in her beautiful turquoise eyes, and then noticed something on her arm. "Taylor..?"

Her smile instantly vanished. "It's nothing Sammy." She said covering it up with her other hand.

"Did he..?" I looked into her eyes. I know that if I do that, she'll tell me everything I need to know. Nothing more, nothing less.

"No Sammy. He didn't go foul again." She said looking away from my eyes. "I got it from running into a table."

I instantly knew that that was a lie. Taylor was more careful then that to run into a table. If anything, she was one of those people to put padding at the ends of tables, and on the corners of walls.

"Tae, you need to tell someone about this."

"No, Sammy." She said ending the conversation. "Can we just leave now?"

I started the Jeep, and then started to head for the one place we really enjoy hanging out together: the park.

_____

"So, what your saying is that you beat the crap out of Johnathan O'Riley today?" Tae said putting in a spoonful of Froyo into her mouth.

"Yea." I said feeling a little bit accomplished. Like come on, who would've had the guts to do that?

"That's impressive Sammy." She said setting down her Styrofoam cup and then looking at my face as if trying to memorize every little detail of it.

"What's wrong?" I asked. She usually never looked at me like this unless something was wrong, or bothering her.

"That bruise, it makes you look... handsome." She said running her thumb on it. "It also reminds me of how humble you are."

I set my hand on hers. "It was nothing, really. I just know that you deserve better then that dick."

She lifted her hand and then picked back up the cup. She started to scrape the remains off of the bottom. I loved how she always tried to get more from the bottom even though there was nothing left.

Zzzzzt. Someone's phone had vibrated. I pulled out my phone and checked it. It wasn't my phone this time.

"I gotta go." Tae said standing up from the picnic table. When she stood up, the scenery behind her complemented her in every way imaginable. Her black hair and blue eyes seemed to radiant compassion and warmth. That was totally something I would have to paint later.

_____

After I dropped Tae Tae off, I started to think that maybe, just maybe, things are going to change for the good. Only little did I know, that things were going to change for the good, but then for the same time, take a sharp turn off a cliff for the bad.
