The Invasion

BRIAN'S POV

I was fifteen when the world began to change. In the year 2012, Cataclysmic events took place. In just a matter of 24 hours, 3 billion lives were lost. Let me explain what happened from the beginning.

EDMONTON 2018

It was a beautiful day like any other,
I was riding my bike through the schoolyard when something caught my eye. As I looked up, a flash of light almost blinded me. When I could see again, I noticed what appeared to be an alien of sorts. This alien was the size of man, the only difference was that it had these long tentacles, almost like an octopus.
It seemed to not notice me standing there watching it.
To this day I still have no idea why it did not see me.

Suddenly, the alien disappeared back into its large spacecraft and just vanished. I shook my head in disbelief at what I saw. Just as that happened, a large boom in the distance brought me back to reality. It sounds like an explosion of some kind. Suddenly, I hear screams and turn to see someone screaming for help.
"Are you ok?" I ask.
"Please, help me. My husband is injured." She says running up to me out of breath.
"Sure," I say.
I followed her to a middle-aged man laying on the ground covered in blood. I remembered back to my CPR training. I rushed over and checked for a pulse. It was there but it was weak. I take out my cell and notice there is no signal. I start compressions. Suddenly, her husband begins to convulse, coughing up blood, then his entire body is motionless after a few minutes.
She screams, wondering what's happening to him.

Another explosion goes off, I grab my bike and ride home. Dropping my bike on my lawn, I run inside calling my parents.
"Mom! Dad!" I say.
"In here, son," Dad says. They were in the living room watching the news.
"This just in! Edmonton seems to be under attack by something unexplainable." Just then the power cut out.
"Lisa," dad said. "Get the HAM Radio out,"
"But dad!" Lisa said.
"No buts Lisa, this is serious, we need to know what is going on,"
Lisa mumbled something and left to find the radio, dad got from when he was in the military.
"Dad, I need to tell you something," I say.
"What is it?"
"Alone dad,"
"Alright," he says getting up. I follow dad into the kitchen.
"I was there when it happened dad,"
"What! Are you ok, you not hurt are you?"
I shake my head."This is going to sound crazy dad, but I need you to believe me,"
He nods.
I tell him what happened.
"Who else knows about this?"
"Just you and me dad,"
"Good, until we know for sure that's what you saw, we need to keep it from your mother and sister,"
I nod.

Alien POV

The large alien spacecraft flew towards a giant spacecraft. The Mothership. Inside at least a thousand aliens, were getting ready for the invasion. Their mandibles clicked as they stood in formation.
From the control room, another alien began pushing buttons, while looking at a hologram of Earth. Now that the first phase was complete it was time to implement the next phase.
