Melrose high was kind of an odd school. The teachers and subjects you learned where alright, but then came the students. Each one of the student were quirky in their own way, and they all had their own simple student rivalries, but what if a simple student rivalry was taken too far?
In Melrose high the social classes are the same as any school but split into two sides: Converse v.s Vans. To everyone but Maddie it was the most important thing in the world, but because she cared what her friends thought, she wore the same shoes they did, Converse.
Maddie has worn converse for a good portion of her life it was only at the end of middle school she wanted to wear different shoes. She'd come to school wearing a pair of sandals and when she tried to talk to people no one talked back.
She had gone home that day feeling worse than ever before. She'd received a message from her middle school friend that night explaining what had happen. If your wore converse you cant talk to the Vans, and vice versa. If you didnt wear one of the two shoes you were an outcast. The next day she slipped on her pair of Converse and had talked to everyone who also wore Converse.
Teachers even had to alter their lessons around the school wide phenomenon.
"Maddie" Regan sang. "New boy's coming today, and the Converse clan has decided to..." she trailed off as they passed a group of people wearing Vans and then continued in a whisper "to try to get him to wear Converse when he walks in the door."
"That's a bit overwhelming," Maddie replied walking into the locker room and stopped at her locker and began entering the combination.
"How?" She asked in disbelief.
"Could you be anymore blonde?" Maddie joked but a hint of seriousness was hidden underneath of it."He's new to the school, and from what I understood, to the US. He'd come to the school earlier this summer to look around so who ever was here durring that time has already gotten to him. So I don't see a point in trying."
Regan sighed disappointed as Maddie continued to place her stuff in the locker and pull out her P.E. clothes.
"Well, I took the liberty to look at his schedule so we can talk to him and you have first period with him so have fun." She said happily before giving the now full locker room a once over. "Why do the hottest girls have to wear Vans?" She sighed looking in the direction of one girl.
"I'll try not to take offence to that." Maddie said giving her friend a little push to the door. "Go. You'll be late for physics." She nodded and then walked out.~~
"Alright, before we begin, this is..." Ms. Trey trailed off expecting him to fill in the blank.
"Nathan." He said. His voice wasn't too deep but it wasn't high, nor was it rumble it had almost this laziness behind it. The stoner way of talking. It was hard to pin point exactly how it sounded but it echoed in her head.
"Anything you'd like to share?" Ms. Trey asked.
He tsked and shrugged "I don't know." There was a moment of silence as his blue eyes swept over his class mates, it was reassuring to know that his gaze didn't linger any longer on her than they did the hottest girl in her P.E. class, Lizzie.
"Well, it's good enough for me. Alright! Laps everyone. Nathan, that's five laps around the football feild," he nodded in response and they all got up to run. Maddie was a good runner, at least that's what she thought. She didn't like running but she didn't hate it either. She was able to keep up a good pace but never ran and the front of the line. Usually in the front of the line was Lizzie, who wore Vans. But today it was Nathan who kept the steady pace in the front of the line. His curly, dirty blonde hair bounced with every step. His shirt clung just slightly against his thin torso. Some of the other guys who were up front had removed their shirt and would later get yelled at by Ms. Trey. Maddie on the other hand didn't mind the distraction though she would never admit it.
Halfway through their fourth lap some of the girls had tied their shirts up into a crop top to cool down and give a show to the boys, Maddie wished she could do that, she was on the chunkier side, with wide hips and thick thighs, a somewhat flat stomach, and a large bust she hated.
Girls with smaller breast complained all the time but they don't know the struggle until they get them. For a while in middle school that's all the guys would talk about, how her breast entered the room before she did. Eventually they stopped talking about it but her bust and stopped but the staring never did.
Finally they finished their fifth lap and walked around cooling off letting the slower people catch up. When she looked around she notice Nathan's eyes were scanning the crowd again his eyes now slowly lingering on certain people. His eyes every now and then fell onto her. This happened throughout first period. Ms. Trey had moved the class into the gym as the sky became dark and cloudy. When it was time to change she heard people begin talking about him and the theories they had or the rumors they had heard.
