Hi everyone, I am joining the class a bit late but I really hope that we will get along pretty well, nevertheless. Just think of me of as the transfer student who shows up a month after the school starts. Since I've just joined, I am starting off with the third assignment.
ASSIGNMENT: Choose three different genres and write a scene out of your plot idea in each of the genres.
PLOT IDEA:
Tada, Aicheng, and Nina are three high school student who went to the same school. Tada visits the local library where he meets Aicheng. She was the last person he could expect to meet there as everyone at school believed that she was one of the beauties without the brains.
GENRES: Thriller, Humor, Science Fiction
(I'm writing stories in the first person)
THRILLER
I was finally done with my history project after having to sit in the library every day after school, going through the old history section for a week. I checked the time on my phone, it was 6 P.M. The library was about to close and I needed to head back home.
As I stood up to leave, I saw Aicheng enter through the main doorway in a rush. She headed straight to the archives. I decided to follow her out of curiosity and went down the stairs to the basement where the archives room was. "FOR OFFICIALS ONLY," the board on the door said. Aicheng ignored the signboard and slammed her way into the room. Half a minute later I sneaked inside being extra cautious not to make a sound.
The room was poorly lit and had an eerie feel to it. I walked a few steps behind her as she rummaged her way through the isle of bookshelves in the dark, desperately searching for something, until she disappeared into the maze of bookshelves and darkness. A moment later, I heard her voice, "There you are."
I followed her voice and tried to peek through the books wondering who she was addressing. All I could see was their shadows. One was Aicheng's and the other was of a really tall person.
"Sorry, you had to wait for me. I left home an hour ago, but I met Nina on my way and she could sense that I was coming here to meet you. I had to distract her as if she had known, she would have wanted to come too."
"Cut the crap. Have you brought the parcel?" A deep gravely voice replied.
"Here, have a look." Aicheng handed the other person a box-like object.
"Traitor!" The voice roared in anger and a loud scream followed. I could see blood dripping on the floor and in the middle of the scarlet pool was a body gasping for air. The horror in her eyes shifted to mine when our eyes met while life was flowing out of her like the blood from her abdomen. My knees turned a week and as I covered my mouth with my hand to avoid throwing up, I fell to the floor and a dozen books dropped on me with a noise loud enough for the killer to hear.
The killer broke out in laughter and said, "Aicheng, I guess you're not dying alone today."
Humor
I was only halfway through Nina's History project after having to sit in the library after school for a whole damn week. I checked the time on my phone, it was 6 P.M. The library was about to close and I needed to head back home. Why did I even agree to do her work? First, she happens to be my crush and second, she's the hottest chick of our school. People fight wars to prove their love and a simple History project isn't a big deal, I suppose. Maybe she likes me too. She won't just ask anyone to do her work. Probably she thinks I'm her knight in shining armor who is always there to help her out. Maybe she would reward me with a kiss later, ask me out and we will get married right after high school. Hell, I'd even consider dropping out of school to marry her.
