Tegan had made a mess of the 'Art Room' in their shared apartment. He was trying to come up with something for his final project for the unit and he was empty. He had tried a couple of different ideas for the theme. There were old newspapers on the floor around his easel, bottles of paint on the floor and pant on his hands, neck and even on his face. His 'Painting Clothes' had fresh paint on them and his pencils were scattered on the floor. He let out a sigh and went to the kitchen. They got a three bedroom apartment for way cheaper than on-campus housing.
Eric knows better than to go into the Art Room before Tegan comes out. Today was no exception. Although, he came out and didn't even notice that Eric was on the couch.
"Hey. There's food on the counter." Eric said. Tegan jumped a little and looked to where the voice came from. Eric saw a smudge of blue on Tegan's cheek and thought it was adorable. They'd lived together a little over a year and Tegan is a year younger. He graduated high school early. Eric would be lying if he said that he didn't have a crush on the smaller, younger male and Tegan would be lying if he said he didn't have a crush on the older, muscular male. Eric found the highlight of his favourite colour on the younger's pale, handsome features quite attractive. Eric has also learned that the blond looks best in red, blue, purple and dark green. Lucky for Eric's imagination, his varsity sweater is dark green.
"Alright. Do you have any ideas on what I could paint for my summative?" Tegan asked. Damn, he must be really stuck if he's asking me for help.
"Your unit is on animals right?"
"Yeah."
"What about elephants or cats?"
"I didn't think about elephants. Thanks!" he said and darted back to his Art Room.
"Tegan you need to eat!" Eric called after Tegan. The door closed and Eric knew Tegan wasn't going to be out for a while. Eric picked up his PlayStation remote. His is the blue one and Tegan's is gold.Three hours later, Tegan came out and flopped on the other side of the couch. Eric paused his game and looked at Tegan. He had orange paint in his hair and purple paint on his cheek mixing with the blue. He had his glasses on.
"Why did I do that art contest in grade eleven?" He sighed.
"Because you're good at art." Eric said.
"Well, have you ever tried to write something like an essay and gotten writer's block and everything you tried seemed dumb?" He asked.
"Yeah. That's the worst."
"I have artist's block." He said sinking further into the couch.
"What do you have done so far?"
"Come see." He said getting up and going to the room. Eric had only been in a handful of times. Tegan opened the door and Eric saw canvases hanging cockeyed on the walls, a gay pride flag, newspapers all over the floor, paint, pencils, brushes, paper towels, and some new, unopened canvases on the floor. He followed Tegan in the room. Tegan's head comes up just under Eric's chin and Tegan is very lean."Sorry about the mess but." He trailed off as he bent over to pick up an open bottle of paint. Eric's eyes rested on Tegan's ass.
"I know how things get for you around summatives." Eric said.
"Yeah, hectic." He said standing up and twisting his cartilage piercing on his right ear. He has both ears pierced too. He put the bottle on one of the little tables around the room.
"Yeah. Do you want to take a break while those dry?"
"Why?"
"So then you can eat something." Eric said crossing his arms over his big chest.
"Ah yes, I forgot to do that again today. Damnit." He said walking quickly past Eric. Tegan's Painting Clothes are basically just mechanic coveralls that are covered in paint. They hung nicely off his shoulders and around his hips. It doesn't help that he has a belt on as well. Tegan went out to the kitchen and started rummaging through the cupboards.
"Did you not hear me earlier when I said there was food on the counter?" Eric asked watching his roommate.
"Right." Tegan muttered and hopped up onto the counter. Tegan ate and Eric went back to playing his game. Tegan finished his food and went back to the Art Room. He left the door open this time though. Eric looked down the hall to see Tegan studying each picture on the wall. Tegan glanced back down the hall and met Eric's eyes and Eric looked back at the tv screen and tried to stop imagining Tegan's beautiful green-blue eye looking at him. Admiring him in the same way that the brunette's hazel eyes had been looking at the blonde.
