"Do you need anything while we're in here?" my mother asks as we walk down the health care center with an unusually over sized buggy. I look around for my favorite cinnamon shampoo and once i spot it, I go to pick up the shampoo and conditioner. Once it's put into the buggy, my mom starts talking again.
" I think it'd be good for you to go to the game tonight. Support our home town," she says with enthusiasm.
" I hate this town though," I mumble and she looks at me with some sort of pity. I hate making my mother upset. Once, I told her I would love to see my dad again and go live with him. I was five at the time, but I was also smart enough to see this killing pain take over her. I've tried my hardest to not upset her since. "But, I'll go. London is going anyways, I'm sure I'll have fun," I lied straight through my teeth.
"Oh, great! I've been concerned about the way you've acted for a while now, and I think this will be good for you," she smiled and I smiled back. I only wanted to cry inside.

" Which one?" I ask London, holding up two shirts. She looks up from her phone and points at the black one in my left hand. I nod, appreciating her service, and pull it over my head. I let my hair down from the braid and it falls into loose crimps. I twist my bangs back, put on mascara, put my dark grey vans on, and I'm ready. "You ready?" I wait in London and she turns her phone off and we walk out of my room.
"Bye mom," I call as we walk out. The highschool is only ten minutes away, so I usually just walk there.
"You're never gonna guess who's coming!" London squeals as we approach the horrifying school.
"Who?" I didn't really care, I just wanted to talk before I start thinking too much.
"Heath Anderson, Savannah. You know, the super hot hockey player? Yeah, he told me he was coming. He must want to hang out tonight," she smirked and it took all my being not to laugh at her. London wasn't like me. She didn't have very many problems, except mayber her makeup looking off. She was boy crazy too. I belived that chasing after boys was a waste of time. If he's meant to be, there will always be a sign.
"That's great! You know Alex, right? Well, he said he was gonna be here, so I thought we could hang out with him too?" I suggested. Alex wasn't popular, but he was cool. We've been friends since seventh grade, but London doesn't really think much of him.
"Oh... well, if you want to," she smiled and I texted him, telling him I'd meet up with him later.
We ran around for about an hour and a half, London talking to Heath the whole time. Turns out Alex couldn't make it, so I was stuck third wheeling.
As we were walking, I heard a horrible sound. A crunch, holler, and another crunch. I spun around while they kept walking, and walked into a crowd. I was about three inches shorter than literally everyone at my school, so it was easy navigating. I made it up to the front, where a person in a blue hoodie stood, breathing heavily. In front of him was a boy, prep at my school, cursing about the suspicious person. As I looked, everybody was siding with the stranger. Not Hunter, the prep. It was strange and unusua, because this kid wasn't even from my school.
Eventually, they started swinging at eachother, and the stranger got pushed into me during the rumble. He turned, showing me light grey eyes and hair poking out of the hood in a small quiff. He was... distracting.
"You should be more careful, darling," he chuckled softly and I lost my breath. All too soon, he pushed me out of the crowd and continued fighting. I started walking, completely in a daze. It became to crowded, and it became hard to think. Suddenly, I did the unthinkable. I turned back towards the crowd, grinning. I pushed through once again, and stood between Hunter and the boy. They stopped.
"Savannah, dammit, get out of the way!" Hunter yelled. He's apparently had a crush on me this year, so I know he wouldn't do anything. I looked at him pleadingly and stern, and he huffed before walking away. I looked at the boy, and he smiled.
"Well, hello again, darling."
