Chapter 1

"where are you?" My bestie shouted on the phone
"I'm on my way" I said as I hurried to school
"Class start in 5min,you better get your lazy ass here or .." she yelled as I hung up
Uggghhhh....

Hi,my name's summaya Muhammad and I'm from Nigeria. I'm 16 going to 17 this year. Uhhh...I got 4 brothers. Oh and that girl on the phone is mia, she's my bestie and an halfcast. Things been tough since I started schooling at University of Lagos. I had to leave my family at Abuja but insha Allah things will be better.

I rushed into the school and headed straight to my first lecture. Oh great chemistry...
Note the sarcasm.
I saw the lecturer walking to the class as I picked up my pace to make it before he does and Boom! I did.
I saw Mia waving at me. I walked to her and took the seat beside her.
"Hey" I said
No response.
"Hello" I said waving at her
" I heard you the first time you know. You got two offences. One: you hung up on me
Two: you are late." She said counting her fingers
"Okay I hung up cause you were slowing me down and I'm not late you know." I said smirking.
She rolled her eyes and focused on the board. I chuckled at her expression.

The class was so boring. First 2 hours I almost fell asleep I only got a few things he said.
"Okay class open to page 52 o your textbooks and do the exercises there" he said
I heard someone scoff beside me.
"Who uses textbooks?" the person muttered.
I ignored and did my exercise. Mia was done with hers. Well basically cause she's really good at chemistry. What..I got my good subjects too like biology.
"Hey dimwit you done?" Mia said nudging me in the arm.
"Stop disturbing me, we get it. You're good at chemistry don't get all bossy with it" I said with my eyes on my papers
"Uggghhhh...how many years will you take?" She said rolling her eyes.
"Aaaaand done" I said feeling on top of the world.
"Finally" mia said.
The class was over but we didn't live without assignments.
"Today you are going to be grouped into pairs. Each pair will be given different assignments so I don't want to here 'they stole our idea'. You submit next two weeks first class of that week got it?" The lecturer said sounding serious. We answered and he started calling names and their group members.

I silently prayed mia and I should be in the same group then I heard Mia's name.
"Mia Salim and uthman sanusi"
What!!! No no no no ...
I quickly changed my prayer course.
Oh Allah, don't give me a dumb group member.
"Summaya Muhammad and Ali Ibrahim"
"What?" I unconsciously yelled out loud which caused everyone's eyes to be on me.
I smiled awkwardly and put my head on my desk
You gotta be kidding me
"Class dismissed"

"How on Earth did that happen?" I practically yelled.
"Chillax girl, Ali isn't that bad" Mia said sipping from her smoothie
"Uhh..have you met the guy?"
Mia laughed and continue sipping

"Hey ladies,can i join you?"
Speak of the devil himself
I was about to snap at him but mia stepped on my foot
"Owww" I said in pain and glared at her
"Sure why not?" she smiled
sweetly at him and I glared at him
I could stab her ryt now
"So you and Maya here are group partners, what a perfect group" Mia said clapping her hands
"Perfect group for last place" I muttered as I ate my sandwich.
Luckily none of them heard me.
"Uhhh yh... Hope you a chemistry geek cause i have no idea of what to do" he said to me not taking his eyes of me.
Oh great now he's gonna make me his maid and let me single handedly handle this project. Oh Allah what sin did I commit to deserve this terrible punishment.

"There's no way I'm letting you ditch out. We are gonna do it together so better prepare yourself lazybrat" I spat

" Woah.. alright alright text me when you want us to meet. I gotta go .football practice starts soon besides uthman probably mad at me right now.it was nice talking to you ladies" he waved before running off

"Oh geez,you see?" I said to Mia.
"See what?"
"He said he was gonna Ditch the project"
"He was only joking, gosh Maya take it easy "
I scoffed and finished my lunch and went for my next class.

Its official I'mma get an F in chemistry.
I internally groaned.
