Chapter 4

The next morning, I woke up to the sun shinning into the room.  I sat up on the bed, trying to wake myself up.

"Phillip! You there?" I called. 

Then, I heard footsteps down the hall.  Phillip appeared in the room. 

"Morning Ivy. You okay?" Phillip asked me. 

"I'm fine.  Do you have a shower here?" I asked. 

"Yes, you can use it if you need to" Phillip said. 

"I don't have any clothes, but thank you" I said. 

"I'll find you some clothes.  Go on and take a shower" Phillip said. 

Phillip went to go find me some clothes to wear.  I stood up slowly and walked into the bathroom. 

"You good?" Phillip asked me, as he stood in the doorway.

"Yeah, just sore" I said. 

Phillip handed me a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, along with some underwear.

"My roommate that used to live here; he had a girlfriend that would stay here a lot.  She left these clothes here; they have never been worn.  They're clean.  I think they will fit you" Phillip said. 

"Thank you" I said. 

"Call me if you need anything, hun" Phillip said. 

Phillip left the bathroom, closing the door behind him.  I stripped out of my clothes, turned on the shower, and climbed in.  The hot water felt wonderful against my skin, as it cleansed every part of my body. 

When I was finished, I turned off the shower and climbed out.  I grabbed a towel and dried off.  As I finished drying off, I looked at myself in the mirror.  There were bruises all around my ribs.  My face wounds were still sore, but they didn't look too bad.  When I was all dried off, I got dressed ,and put on the clothes that Phillip had given me.  My ribs hurt as I put on the t-shirt.  Once I was fully clothed, I was fine. 

I walked out of the bathroom and into my room. I sat on the bed, trying to recollect my thoughts.  I felt my eyes tear up a little bit.  I looked at up find Phillip standing in front of me.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Phillip asked me. 

"Bad memories" I said.

"Come here. Come with me" Phillip said.

Phillip held out his hand to me.  I took his hand, and he led me out of the room.  Phillip led me into the living room, and we sat down on the couch.  Phillip sat next to me.

"What's on your mind? If I may ask you?" Phillip asked me. 

"Since I was attacked last night, I started having bad memories from my past" I said. 

"How bad of memories?" Phillip asked me. 

"I just moved here recently, from another state.  I had a boyfriend who would physically abuse me.  He also tried to have sex with me, and I refused each time. I'm still a virgin, and I'm just waiting for the right person. You know?" I said. 

"Yeah, I know what you mean" Phillip said.

"Every time that I refused, my boyfriend would beat me, really bad.  I have been in the hospital multiple times. I've almost died because of how bad I was beaten.  So, I dumped my boyfriend.  He was arrested and thrown in jail" I said. 

Phillip was silent for a minute.  He looked angry and upset because of what happened to me.  I waited for him to speak.

"That asshole deserves to be in prison for life.  He should've never hurt you like that.  You deserve so much better in a man" Phillip said. 

"Thank you so much, Phillip.  You're an angel" I said. 

More tears started to form in my eyes. So many bad memories were upsetting me.

"Hey, it's okay.  Come here, hun" Phillip said. 

Phillip wrapped his arms around me, and he pulled into a hug, holding me close to him.  I held on to Phillip tightly, as he hugged me.  Phillip was an angel; an guardian angel.

* Phillip's POV *

I held Ivy tightly in my arms, hugging her tightly, holding her close to me, as she cried. I can't believe that someone would do that to her.  It angered me so much.  I had to find out attacked Ivy.  I would protect her and keep her safe, no matter what.  Ivy was my main priority, and I wouldn't let anything happen to her.  Ivy deserved to be with someone special; someone like me.
