Chapter 2.1
"Here," I told Anna's mom, putting a cup to her lips. "Drink this. You need it." I made her fingers grip the cup. Her blue eyes that matched Anna's showed a look of disgust, but that was before she breathed it in. She finally swallowed, draining the cup of blood in only a couple of seconds.
"What was that?" she asked, and a smile came to my lips. Her face had changed from being sunken in and gray to a healthy rosy glow. A few of her wrinkles had gone away, making her appear younger than she actually was. And she didn't look like a mother anymore, the features on her face had been enhanced, giving her a slightly dangerous look.
"It's better for you not to know at this point, but I'll give you hints to see if you can figure it out." I held up my fingers then, motioning for her to look at them.
"Number one," I held up one finger. "What did you feel like after you drank what I gave you?" I asked, her face changed into one of curiosity, but I knew exactly what she felt like right now. She was wanting more, the hunger would slowly drive her insane until she finally found her humanity again. Which, for me, took until the recent weeks when I had found John again.
"I feel like running in the wind, I feel so free, like I can do anything. Could you give me some more of that-" I cut her off with a hand gesture. I knew she could feel the power within the room, and surely to a newborn vampire, it would be astonishing.
"Yes, you feel free. But there's something else." I told her, slowly pacing up and down in front of her. I could feel her eyes watching me with every step. I could feel her assessing me. A new vampire can't control their emotions well, and I knew she was thinking of a way to attack me, to find out how I had gotten that power. She wasn't going to find out.
"I want..." she said, her voice trailing, her eyes becoming a darker blue. Ah, yes. Want.
"You want my power. You drink blood," I held up a number two. I needed to just tell her flat out what she was. Surely, she would believe me. She wouldn't be able to deny anything I say. I held up a number three.
"And you're a vampire." I told her, my eyes turning to meet hers. I bore into the darkness filling up her face, consuming it into the predator that she would have to learn to be. In about three seconds, she would attack me. It was now her nature, and when she would, she would finally realize what she was.
And then we'd have a drink together, and sort out this mess Anna had created.
