I. Too many endings, no ending at all

"Too many endings, no ending at all"

Something about you leaves a bitter tase in my mouth

Something about you is not mine to say

Oh, how do we know when we reach the end

I needed a sign to tell me, to confirm

Because the possibility of any ending that doesn't result in happiness is a scary thought, is all

The book is scattered, torn, ripped apart like it's the truth

I have reached the end, I knew.

My heart didn't quite agree, un-steady

Cause the book ended half way through

But that's life, isn't it?

One of the things we need to accept

The book is scattered, torn, over used

There is never an end

But you feel an end over and over

Because hello's do not last

Ending in good bye

And while you decide whether to stay or run away

I keep thinking, "this is the end,

oh god, oh god,"

I told you I loved you and the moment was suspended in time,

As was my heart and your lungs

And then I thought, "this is the end,

oh god, oh god,"

That moment lay forgotten

It was one of the bitter beginnings

Of something forever felt but never heard

One of the many in our big book of endless tragedies

Oh, I'll write a book one day, I will

One that doesn't leave all its pages scattered,

Words un-said,

But when I reach the last chapter,

Fingers numb, heart thudding, your eyes belifting,

I will stop.

We were never meant to have an ending.
