Sienna Soul’s Solitary Desert Café
cowboys ‘n drifters
tired whores ‘n grifters
old folks who ain’t got much too say
all pass thru the doors of this tiny café
transvestites ‘n truckers
perennial down-on-their-luckers
lovers who long for the end of the day
all blow thru the doors of this dusty café
‘n they all got their story to tell
ain’t a one of ‘em doin’ too well
the café’s got no air, so it’s hotter ‘n hell
but they stay
yes they stay
felons ‘n failed preachers
disillusioned teachers
heartbroken men & blonde divorcées
they all end up here
with nuthin’ to lose ‘n nuthin’ to fear
at Sienna Soul’s Solitary Desert Café
Sienna’s story
Sienna was the youngest child of four
‘n unlike her siblings, she wanted more
she was always curious
‘n attacked life like she was furious:
dancin’ / drivin’ / book-learnin’ / cookin’
always eager, always lookin’
she did everything with joyful zest
she always excelled – she was always the best
leastways til she discovered love ‘n sex
two things that left her sorely vexed
attractive / sexy / ambitious / bright
seldom was she alone at night
unfortunately she never understood
how to get ‘n keep a man for good
not meaning to, she did everything wrong:
playin’ her own drum, dancin’ to her own song
sometimes she didn’t think before she spoke
so out came words that never failed to provoke
she struggled 20 years to be a good wife
but hubby got fed up & stomped outa her life
like any woman, she shed a few tears
then to the curb she kicked all her fears
she took the money she got from the divorce
‘n charted her life on another course
she travelled all over the Middle East
her curiosity never decreased
China / Spain / Russia / France
always willing to take a chance
by ship, by plane, she stayed on the go
