You closed your eyes, joined your hands together and silently prayed for help. Sitting hunched in the darkness, you tried to make as little noise as possible. On the upper deck you could still hear people screaming and swords slicing one another as a rusty smell of blood and gunpowder was lingering in the air : the scent of death.
Suddenly everything went silent, only the jiggling of your chains broke it, you tried to stop your shaking but you weren't in control of your body anymore. You heard some footsteps coming in your direction, you held your breath and curled up in the corner. The footsteps were closer and closer to you, and it finally stopped. Something harshly grabbed your hair and pulled your head up to face him. The intruder was kneeling next to you : he was a pale and muscular man with bright red hair. He had a large scar on the left side of his forehead going down his neck and a smaller one on his left eye. A sadistic smile twisted his purple lips as he looked you up and down.

- There's still someone alive. I don't know if you're lucky or not, though... he smiled at that.

He was still pulling your hair and the pain gradually became unbearable. You bit your lips until they bleed, containing your groans. His eyes fell on your chains and he frowned.

- So you're a slave ? He asked himself, he moved closer to your face and silently judged you. You glared at him which only intensified his smile, he let go of your hair and got up. I hate weak. He simply stated.

Next thing you remembered was his feet rapidly coming closer to your face followed by a sharp pain.

~

You slowly opened your eyes, your eyelids were heavy and your face was swollen. You tried to look at your surrounding but every breath was painful.

- Am I dead ? You painfully whispered to yourself even though you knew the answer.
- Not yet, someone responded.

You stiffened despite the pain and eyed in the direction of the voice. A muscular and blond-haired man wearing a white and light-blue full-head helmet came in your field of vision. You kept your eyes on him as he sat on a chair next to your bed.

- I'm Killer by the way.

His hands came closer to your face and you instinctively closed your eyes.

- Easy, I'm just going to change your bandages, he said as he swiftly removed something from your face. He calmly patted your cheek and nodded. The swollen had gone down, but I'm afraid that you'll have to bear with that nasty bruise longer. You're lucky it could have been worse... He stated.

You raised an eyebrow.

- Did you save me ? You asked with a husky voice.

The man went silent and you heard something close to a chuckle.

- I'm afraid I'm not the one you need to thank. If it had been up to me, you'd be in the bottom of the ocean with your friends right now.
The Captain decided to let you live, I'm just obeying.

You shivered. The faint security you had felt had suddenly disappeared.

- I still don't know why he decided to bring you with us, but you should be safe...for now... , his voice trailed off.

The man then proceeded to undo the bandages at your wrists and ankles. You sat on the bed and examined the wounds left by the cuffs, you felt so light without them and your eyes filled with tears : you were free ! Killer quietly got up and walked out of the room, leaving you alone.

- Dinner's at 8 p.m, you faintly heard.

You smiled lightly and closed your eyes, you were exhausted. You had received too many information yet not enough. Who's the guy that hit you ? Who's the captain ? Why did he save you ? Where were you ? Too many questions had been left unanswered... You were thinking about it, until your consciousness slowly drifted away as you fell asleep once again.
