Prologue Casey's POV

The day I became an orphan is a day I'll never forget. I was eight at the time. To be honest my life wasn't to great to begin with but this just sent it down to the lowest circle of hell.

It was a sunny day not a cloud in the sky and, there was light breeze that just made the day seem nearly perfect. It was suppose to be perfect to, that's the ironic thing. It was the day my dad was going to marry my soon-to-be-step-mom Emma. She was nice and everything it was just her two sons that turned everything to shit.

They were both older than me and neither of them liked me at all. Justin the oldest wasn't that bad he just pretended that I didn't exist. Nathan is the one thats the devil's spawn.

Emma and I were getting our hair down together. The salon ladies were in the middle of pinning my thick brown hair in a bun when Justin and Nathan burst through the door running around like complete idiots.

"Stop it you two before you ruin your clothes!" Emma scolded.

"Mommy do you have to get married. I mean I like Rick and everything I just don't want her as my sister." Nathan said while pointing at me with fury.

"Yes Nathan I have to get married and you better start being nice to Casey."

"But I don't like her." Nathan whined.

"Stop it, right now." Emma scolded.

Nathan sulked away with Brian tailing behind them. They were probably going to play tag or something and were going to get all dirty.

"I'm sorry about Nathan he's still just getting used to the idea that he won't be the youngest anymore." Emma said. I didn't respond just looked out the window as the salon ladies fussed about my hair. I'm not much of a talker and I didn't really want Emma's apology. If Nathan wants to be a jerk than that's his decision his mom shouldn't have to be sorry for it.

After we got our hair done it was only a few hours until the wedding. Emma was pacing up and down the hall she looked a little nervous. I was about to head over to her and try to comfort her when I was pulled into a supply closet. I tried to scream but there was a hand over my mouth.

"Listen no one wants you here so consider this a favor." Someone said I couldn't see anything in the pitch black closet. I heard the sound of duck tape being pulled off and I started freaking out. I tried to get out but whoever was doing this was a lot stronger than me. The person held me down and ducked taped my arms and legs to what I assume is a chair.

"See ya after the wedding." I hear the voice whisper before it closes the door.

I struggle and struggle to no avail. I can't get out. I doze off after a while and am awakened by someone calling my name.

"Casey!! Casey!!" I hear a person shouting.

"Asdfrfvv." I respond through the duck tape.

Moments later I hear the door knob turn and I see my dad standing there. Finally he's found me.

"Casey what are you doing in here?" He asks me while carefully removing the duct tape.

"Someone locked me in here." I said through stuttered sobs.

"Aw baby I'm sorry who would do this to you."

"I don't know!" I cried. But really in the back of my mind I knew it must of been Nate.

"Well honey I'm sorry to say, but you um kind of missed the wedding."

"WHAT!!!"

"Yeah baby Emma and I are leaving to go on our honey moon now. We couldn't find you in time for the wedding and we had to keep things moving. If it makes you feel any better every one was worried about you."

"That certainly does not make me feel better I can't believe you chose a wedding over finding your daughter! What if I had been kidnapped or worse! How could you do this!" I scream

"Honey I,"

"No don't honey me. Even for you this is low. Go on your stupid honey moon I don't ever want to see you again." At that I turned around and sprinted as far away from him as possible. I heard him yell after me. "Casey come back I..." But I didn't here what else he had to say.

That's my biggest regret in life not going back maybe if I had life would be different. If I could go back in time I'd run and say I loved him to the moon and back. But of course I can't go back in time and those last few moments of me screaming at my dad will always be the last time ever saw him alive. He died in a car crash that night. Him and Emma were hit by a drunk driver. Emma lived but my dad didn't. It's not fair what happened.

I guess it doesn't matter any more like I said I don't have a time machine I can't change what happened. I can only make my future better at least that's what dad would tell me if I had a bad day. Although it's rather hard to look at the bright side when 2/3rds of the people you live with hate you. I'll get through it though at least I think I will.

AUTHORS NOTE:

Hi everyone so this is my first story ever so sorry if you hate it. Please leave a comment telling me if you like it that would mean the world to me. Just so you know the next chapter will be told from Nathan's POV and it will be in present times because obviously the wedding was in the past. So he will be about 17 and Casey should be 13.
