At the watchtower, the news had been turned on to assess the pride parade situation. Everyone sat in the mission room, watching the screens. Everyone smiled when Nightwing and Wally came on.
"Fifteen bucks say either they're going to propose, or are engaged." Artemis called out. "I'll take that bet." Hal countered. There was no way they were dating, right?
"Don't tell me you two support this." The chief groaned. Nightwing and Wally gained identical smirks that Artemis knew well. Shit was about to go down. "Of course we do. What else do you think these rings mean?" The crowds went wild when they revealed the rings hanging on their fingers. Hal groaned as he handed the fifteen dollars to Artemis.
"This just in! Nightwing and Kid Flash are engaged!" The reporter said excitedly. "She does know we just watched them reveal that, right?" Conner asked, an eyebrow raised. "Yeah, it's a reporter thing." Robin replied.
"How do we know you two aren't engaged to others?" The entire hero community groaned. Could he not just leave them alone? Artemis saw another smirk below Nightwing kissed Kid.
Everyone looked nervously at Batman. He just shrugged. "He's not the only gay in the family." The heroes also went wild, but it was much calmer than the crowd. Batman started holding hands with Superman. Tim smiled before leaning into Conner. Hey, if Bruce and Dick were gay, why couldn't he be?
"Wedding's in to weeks!" Flash smiled. "He's really excited about this, huh?" "Yup." Artemis replied, popping the "p." She knew the two idiots were dating. She'd was happy for Wally, who'd escaped the speed force about six months before. They'd broken up when Wally came back. It had stung at the time, but she was ok now.
Wonder Woman smiled. She's known she was bi, but the two boys have paved the way for her. She had a thing for a certain clown in Gotham. No, not Joker! Harley. Diana could relate to her.
The heroes were ecstatic. The two, who had known each other for about eight years, were finally getting married. All of the heroes were happy, except one.
La'gaan didn't like the idea of a gay wedding, especially since it was to wed Wally and that traitor. He felt Wally should be with Artemis, as Nightwing had split them up for the invasion. But somehow, he'd earned Wally's heart instead of just leaving it with what was right, what was expected of heroes: being straight. That was the number one rule besides survive and don't let your identity get revealed.
La'gaan just huffed and walked off. Everyone knew he disapproved of gay marriage. He was a little homophobic. "Just for their sakes, all in favor of keeping La'gaan here, raise your hand." Batman said before putting his free hand up. Everyone in the room put theirs up. "The motion is passed. He's staying here." That made everyone smile. This wedding was going to go just fine.
