A/N: another day, another smut warning~
There was a loud, quick knock on her door before it opened.
"Up here!" Emma called downstairs, yawning at her reflection in the vanity as she tugged her hair to the top of her head, getting ready for bed. She could hear Ethan close the door behind him and lock it, and she could picture in her mind how he would take off his shoes by the door, using one foot to propel the other shoe off rather than just untying them. Emma smiled to herself.
"Hey," Ethan said, appearing on the top stair dressed in sweatpants, a loose t-shirt, and white socks. It had been a week since he met her mom, and he'd been swept up a whirlwind of filming ahead of time, since he and Grayson were planning to be in New Jersey to see their dad for a week. She knew they'd stocked up a few videos on learning how to dance with Maddie Ziegler - Bryant had ended up introducing them. They filmed a lie detector video today, to be released sometime in October, and flew to Vegas for a brand deal on Monday. Emma hadn't seen Ethan much in the week since, unless it was at night when he was finally done.
"Hey. Here's your laptop charger from last night," Emma said, brandishing it from the plug strip underneath her vanity.
"Oh, thank god. You just saved my life."
"I saw it this morning, and considering you had to film today, I figured you were probably missing it."
"I thought I was losing my mind when I couldn't find it." Ethan accepted it, his fingers brushing against hers. "Thanks for letting me know."
Emma turned in her chair to face him, leg tucked underneath her, as he plopped down on the edge of her bed with a sigh. "How'd the lie detector test go?"
"It was fine. The lie detector guy, John, was pretty cool..." Ethan trailed off with a wry laugh. "He didn't seem to like us that much."
"Isn't he always a little pissed off?" Emma asked. "That's how he seems in Shane's videos."
"Maybe," Ethan shrugged. "I hope that's what it was, and not that he just thought our video was shit."
"I doubt he thought that. He probably doesn't know anything about YouTube."
"Well, the video did end up kind of boring, so I wouldn't be surprised," Ethan laughed. "Gray kept asking me really personal questions to try and trip me up. That helped a little."
"Questions? Like what?"
"Er... nothing," Ethan said, after a pause.
Emma raised her eyebrows. "What, you don't want to tell me?"
"They're, uh... embarrassing." His cheeks were tinged pink, but he maintained his poker face even as Emma slid off her chair.
"Well now you have to tell me," Emma said, grinning at him.
"No way."
She walked over to him and sat down next to him on the bed, grabbing his hand to tug him closer. "Please?"
"Nuh uh," he said, despite the way his fingers entwined with hers.
"Come on, just one. They can't be that bad."
"I won't do it," Ethan said, shaking his head, and Emma raised her other hand to his cheek but he jerked his head back.
"You can tell me the best one, you don't even have to say the worst one," Emma said, incredulous as he leaned back even further but refused to let go of her hand.
"I don't know..." Ethan said hesitantly, narrowing his eyes. Emma laughed, reaching for his cheek again. He moved back even further, catching her other hand with his own.
