Prologue

As always, the cries of a woman bringing her first child into the world were covered by a raging rain. "AHh!". The doctor in charge to greet the baby, urgently shouts orders to the nurses and assured the woman with her instructions.

"Alright, Nui. Just breathe and push!"

"Nurses get the towels, Now!"

His wife was in labour and he couldn't wait to meet his first child. The heir that will one day succeed in his role as the leader of Akai Incorporated.

Thoughts of the present slowly dispersed to the future. How he planned to groom the child into a fine man that will over throw any company that stands in their way.

"A name, what will his name be-"

A painful ringing started to blast in his ear. Sealing his eyes shut as he tried to absorb it as both his hands clamped the sides of his head. His head spun frantically as if would shake the pain away.

The hallway was empty, he thought of running to find a doctor but then his life flashed before his eyes.

No.

Not this life.

Not the one he had in Katther Sts.

This world was far from his previous one.

There were buildings that reached the skies.

Streets busted with vehicles.

His wife, Nui and-

Images flashed before him. His empire, the samurais, the demons, the deal-

The next thing he heard were cries. Assures as he didn't hear his wife's moans in pains anymore.

His child, the first one but-

Movement had been flabbergasted as he looked around. The skies still dark from the rain, yet it was a calm on. No lightning. This world had no demons. 'As far as I've known'.

Then, the sets of memories came together. In the past, he had sold his first son's body to the demons yet there were no screams of casualties coming from the room. He had become a successful lord, but then-

Hyakkimaru

How the boy had declined death with his strong will. And how he'd destroy the empire he built.

And finally, he remembered his own death. Nui's death. Tohomaru's flawed decisions that got him killed and how he'd make another deal with the demons to bring him back.

Hyakkimaru had warned him but he'd been stubborn. Thus, by the end of it he allowed his first child to finished him when the demons decided to posses his body in exchange for his second son.

He was a horrible man. A horrible husband. Too deep in with his ambitions that he forgot he was human.

The thought sent waves of shivers down his spine. He dropped down onto one of the seats along the halls.

His mistakes caused him his wife, his sons and his own life. What was he doing now?! Repenting?

The doors of the infirmary swung open to reveal the doctor as she happily greeted him with news. "Mr. Kagemitsu, your child is a healthy born baby boy."

Healthy? Oh! That's right. He never made a deal with demons in this- world? realm? life?

He'll figure out what to call it later. Right now, he should go and see his son. Shaking away the nauseous feeling from the wave of scattered memories, he held onto the pressure to his knees and got up.

A smile wrinkled his hard features as he entered the room. The first thing he saw was his wife holding their baby lovingly in her arms, "he's beautiful, my love."

Stages of emotions started raising, overwhelmingly his vision. "Can I hold him?" He asked, carefully raising his hands as Nui gently placed him.

Daigo held the towel covered infant in his arms. He was a small creature so he was very careful. Finally, he had a good look at his first child.

He had skin for sure. All his limbs were intact and he had yet to open those small buds covering his eyes. 'No doubt, you'll take more from your mother'. Your mother, his son

Overall, he was a lovely child and the thought made him wary of his surroundings. Rushing, he turned his head to multiple sides to look around in case there were any dark impurities lurking. "Honey? What's wrong?" A worried expression formed on Nui's fair features.

"Wh-! How did you get that cut?" She clasp her hands over her lips and Daigo realised what she meant when he felt a trail of blood flow down the centre of his face.

A small gasp escaped him as he ushered the nurse to help hold his newborn son. "I'll be right back, my love." Worry hadn't left her heart even as her husband existed the room.

"Maybe he just fell? Right, Madam?"

"Hmm..." That cut, where have I seen it before?

~*~

Hurriedly, he rushed to the nearest washroom and cleaned all the blood that was covering his face. The sink water was cold, but that wasn't what bothered him. Had he fallen? When? Where? And then the truth- no! Realisation came to him.

'X'

The cursed mark -scar- embedded on his forehead. The black in his eyes constricted and wide. "This" He tried touching the cut.

'An unbreakable connection '

Such horrendous mix of voices rang in his ears. They made them clamp them shut, in hopes to block them out. Yet, they persist.

'This time, we don't want your son's body'

His body continued to bend forward as the horrifying voices continued to converse their message. The edge of the sink he held on to was the only thing keeping him falling to his knees.

'This time! You are of no use to us!'

A series of haunted laughter started and he had to shut his ears harder, wishing it will stop. In time, it slowly died down and fully stopped. Relieved, he let out the air he hadn't noticed he'd been holding. With tired sigh, he dropped his head when the terror was finally over.

Reentering the room, the same scene greeted him. A newly mother with her newborn cradled lovingly in her arms. This could've been something that happened a long time. If he hadn't been starved of his ambitions, he is would've seen this sooner.

This, this I will protect

He knew that they'll be expecting Tahomaru soon. "So, honey, what do we call him?" A soft smile appeared on his face, he wouldn't allow the demons to have their way. Not in this life.

"I'm thinking... Hyakkimaru"
