MY PERFECT SUMMER

Chapter two

After about an hour we finally arrive at the camp, Scarlet and I rush to join the long queue of souls all eager and cheerful to sign in for the various camp activities we would be doing, I feel my cheeks add more colour when Jayson Hart -whom I've had a secret crush on for some time now- passes by and waves at me. Well, not really at me but at Dan. 

My mind travels far and I start to imagine Jayson and I together but my fantasies are cut short when I trip over Dan's bag which he and Becca set for me and I fall face flat. I turn to see Becca, Dan and Jayson smiling and I'm kind of hurt, well not really since I'm used to it but I thought he would have stopped. I look at all three of them and a sarcastic smile forms on my lips

"I'm gonna kill three of you", I say and he smirks. That sexy smirk I fell in love with and I blush hard that if one could be a millionaire just by blushing I would be a billionare, no screw that a trillionaire. After filling our camp forms, Scarl and I retire to our dormitory. Scarl and I share a room with two other girls Ashley and Sarah that we met at camp last year and Becca shares a room with the boys including Jayson.

"Thank God I can finally rest", Scarlet says as she plunges at the bed.

"Yeah, Ashley just texted they won't be able to make it since they are traveling with their parents to Australia and won't be back till summer's over"

"Cool, so we got the room to ourselves"

"I wish that were true but unfortunately we got guests and they would soon be here"

"Aargh, why"

"You might want to ask the director that dummy"

"Whatevs", she flips her hair and rolls her eyes "You're gonna attend the bonfire tonight right?"

"I'm not so sure, haven't given it much thought"

"There's nothing to think about, you're attending whether you like it or not"

"But"

"No buts,it's settled"

I slump in the armchair at the corner of the room and start dozing off when I hear a soft knock at the door. I don't want to get up but when I look over at Scarlet who is already long gone in dreamland I drag myself lazily from the chair and walk towards the door. I open it and see a tall blonde girl in a casual pink jacket and black leather pants.

"Hey, you must be Betty right?", she says as she engulfs me in a warm hug

So much for hating hugs. When I'm finally free I back away a little so she can enter and when she does I clear my throat and answer her question

"Yeah and you are?"

"Vanessa, pleased to meet you. I already looked you up on ig before coming here. We're gonna be roommates"

"I heard that our other roommate would soon be here. Scarlet and I waited for so long but she fell asleep some moments ago"

"No biggy, I can't wait for the bonfire tonight", she says excitedly

Vanessa seems like a really nice person so we talk about our lives, schools, boyfriends-not that I've had any and she's had ten-, family, siblings and all. We are interrupted when we hear a knock at the door. Vanesssa stands up and opens it, a black girl with flowing black hair steps into the room.

"Hey, I'm Naomi", she waves

"I'm Betty,  she's Vanessa and the sleepy head over there is Scarlet", I say gesturing to Scarl on the bed, just then she throws a pillow at me but fortunately I duck and it hits the ground.

"Come on dumbass, it was a joke, well not technically"

"Yeah and I'm gonna break your nose, well not technically", she lunges forward and drags me to the bed.

Betty, I need your help to select the cloth to wear for the bonfire", Scarlet says dragging her bag to meet me. I start searching her bag and settle on a black tank top with an ankara kimono with a black trousers for her and a pink tank top with black hooded sweatshirt and black trousers for me. After dressing up for thirty minute -make up and all- we leave for the bonfire.
