" Summer!!" mom called out from the stairs. " It's your first day of school honey, you're going to be late!"
I looked at the bedside table and saw that it was only five minutes past five in the morning.
If I remember my class card right, my first class starts at 8 a.m. But knowing mom, I know I have to get up. Not to mention it's an hour travel from home to school!
" Coming mom, just a sec!!" I said and hurriedly entered my bathroom.
I opened the shower and let the warm water dripped through my body. After a few minutes of soaking myself in cucumber body bath I grabbed the towel beside the sink and went to the closet to choose an outfit. I grab a cute pink shirt that read Hot Nerd. A low curved fitted skinny jeans and a pair of converse shoes with animal print. I looked at myself in the mirror and a satisfied smile escaped my lips. Soo highschool yet cute and simple.
Today's my first day at School. And It's not just an ordinary school for college. I'm going to Prince Edward University! The most prestigious school I've always dreamt of going.
I still can't believe I got the scholarship I've been working on all my life. It was like a dream come true. My last few years at Bellford High School were dedicated mostly on my studies, doing all the best I can to maintain my grades and be part of the top students who can take the scholarship at PEU. I'm just thankful that all my efforts paid off.
I know my family can't afford with the highly standard education it can offer plus I've always wanted to meet the love of my life right at Prince Edwards.
I want all my firsts at romance to happen there. I know I'm a hopeless romantic but who can blame me?
I'm an only child and my best friends are cinderella and snow white and all they talked about was happy ever after. ☺
So today, I'm going to make it happen. But first, I know I have to focus on my studies because losing my scholarship means losing my chance of finding Prince charming. It's all part of my big plan. I know in the long run I will bumped into him so I should always be prepared. ☺
*****
I took the bus ride to PEU since dad used the old chevy to the hospital. He's an orthopeidic surgeon. Mom should've been a doctor too but got pregnant of me before she even finished her freshmen at med school. Now she's a full time housewife. My parents had this kind of whirlwind romance and I don't think they ever regret marrying too soon. I know they're contented of what they have especially they've got a smart and pretty daughter. haha.
Even though dad has a very promising job and income, its just isn't enough to send me to Prince Edwards. It was way too expensive.
Dad has always been very generous when it comes to his patients. I know there's a lot of charity cases who can't pay him, but he never really mind as long as they'll all be alright. And I admire him for that.
When I finally got the scholarship, Dad offered me a new car but I didn't accepted it especially I know, it will be another burden to him. Especially now, that I'm in college and he has yet another long lists of bills to pay including my new iphone and laptop which was broken when the attack at Bellford happened.
There were rebels around and we were the lucky neighboorhood who got attacked. All our furnitures, appliances and gadgets broken.
We thought it would be our last but they were harmless. In fact when they've attacked our home, they let us stay at the bathroom. After an hour or so, they just left. All happened the same with our neighbor.
We reported it to the authorities and thankfully all the rebels have gone to jail. It was later found out that it was an initiation for the Sigma tau neophytes. A fraternity indeed. what a shameless brotherhood for such a foolish act.
They was arguing the entire summer if i could just stay at a dorm near PEU or rent an apartment so that I'll have enough time to study than being on the road all the time. Talk about an hour of travel from home to school and vice versa!
I suggested that since we haven't found a cheap one last time, I promised them that I'll be asking around during my first week at school. I know there's got to be a cheap apartment or dorm out there. We can't afford the expensive apartment and condo unit near Prince Edwards.
The scholarship I got fell on bracket C, which meant I got a 100% percent scholarship minus the allowance and free rent at the schools dorm. Based on what I've heard, only a very few students fell on bracket A and B. And we're only about 100 freshmen out of thousands who got in at bracket C.
I took a deep breathe before walking on the pavement entering the Obilisks of the School. It was Prince Edward himself sculpted in each tower, swords facing each other joining the arch.
The arch has PRINCE EDWARD UNIVERSITY written on it. A welcoming air swept through me and I couldn't contain my happiness being part of this newfound institution.
I noticed a long line of expensive cars forming the main entrance of the school. I just can't believe it. Here I am at Prince Edward University with just my backpack along with my dreams with me, walking at the same ground with the most richest and smartest kid around. I'm a lucky bitch, right?
It's so amazing knowing that all these students who went at PEU are either sons and daughters of politicians, business tycoons, famous actors and actresses, CEO of a multimillionaire company or just rich parents with smart kids. I heard there's one student who's a son of a Prince. They don't just accept rich kids but they should also be smart too. and they're all rich people who came from different state, country and even continent. Unbelievable! And they just came here to study at the heart of Springwood Easttown.
