Taehwan woke with an excruciating pain in his body, mainly his head. He was in a plain white room. Everything was silent. Taehwan looked around.

A chair sat next to him and there were rusty metal cabinets along the walls. It smelled of blood and throw up, making Taehwan nauseous.

Taehwan sat up even though the pain in his body was worsening. He looked down at the strange cuff he wore on his ankle. A small dot blinked blue on the cuff. Taehwan wondered what it was. More importantly, what he was doing here and how he got here.

Taehwan stood up, knees wobbling for a few moments before becoming more stable. His headache was now fading and flowing into his legs but he ignored it.

Taehwan stepped towards the counter that had a glass of water and what looked like a folded piece of paper under it. He looked inside of the water, immediately cringing and setting it down as he saw small chunks of white floating around.

Taehwan picked up the paper and unfolded it. Inside it read:

Hello, Taehwan. I see you've woken up. Well, I can't tell you where you are right now. You'll have to find out yourself. The only thing I can tell you currently is that you have to escape quickly or you will die.

Yours truly,
-Unknown
P.S, Don't die.

Taehwan set the paper down and staggered backwards. He was so shocked at what it said, his legs just wanted to find a way out as quickly as possible. Taehwan made his way to the door and tugged on the handle.

Locked. Taehwan knew right away that a key lay somewhere in the room. He scrambled to open all of the drawers, yanking each an everyone of them. There was no key to be found in any of them.

Taehwan threw open every cabinet. He rummaged through all the dust and bottles. No key. Taehwan looked across the floor, in corners, under the bed, and even above the cabinets.

Taehwan gripped his hair in frustration and looked up at the ceiling. A dark shape formed in the lightbulb. There it is! Taehwan jumped up and wrapped his hand around the low hanging light. He fell back down, ripping the bulb from its string.

Taehwan smashed it down on the ground and even though it was dark, he still felt around the floor. Glass pierced his trembling fingers till he pressed down on something that didn't stab him.

His heart picked up its normal pace as he gripped it in his hand. Taehwan sped to the door and stuck the key inside the lock. He twisted it around until he heard a click and opened the door.

Taehwan stepped out the room and into a hallway. Everything was dark except for the flickering lights that hung from a string, like the one he broke.

Taehwan looked both left and right before deciding to go down the right hallway.

The black t-shirt and pants were thick but his exposed skin was covered in goosebumps that felt like spikes when touched. The smell of blood grew stronger. Taehwan felt a gust of wind blow past him. The lightbulbs swung in sync.

A thumping was faint but still heard. The floor shook with each thump.

"What is that..." Taehwan look backwards and small a small figure down the hall. It looked like a massive white dog. He squinted his eyes to get a better look at the now growing creature. It ran at the speed of light, bolting towards the boy.

It was now becoming more clear. It had an abnormally shaped head, like an eggplant. It had no visible eyes and a mouth that stretched out like a hippo, drool flying as it snapped its jaw. Shoulder blades like a knife moved up and down.

Taehwan watched in shock as it neared. He broke out of his fear and began to sprint down the hall. His heart banged against his chest as he ran faster to get away from the monster.

The floor shook harder. Taehwan glanced behind him, the monster as picking up speed and was catching onto him. He looked back forward and scanned for any escape.

There! Taehwan saw a rusty door ahead of him but it looked as if it was miles away. His chest burned and his vision was beginning to fog. It was getting difficult to breathe.

A deafening roar was heard behind him. Taehwan didn't care for the piercing sound in his ears, only caring about getting to safety.

Taehwan then saw another figure ahead of him. But this one seemed more human, it wasn't speeding towards him. Taehwan squeezed his eyes shut and pushed himself faster.

Blue, purple, red, and yellow colors danced behind his eyes. Taehwan's throat closed up so he couldn't breath anymore. Another roar broke out from the monsters mouth, snapping Taehwan out of his trance.

When he opened his eyes back up, there was no human in front of him anymore. Hallucinations. Taehwan saw the door becoming larger and larger the more he ran.

He glanced back again to see the foreign animal less than 100 feet away from him. The headache that he once had was starting to come back. His legs began to feel like jelly and his feet were sore.

Taehwan used the last of his energy sprinting and yanking the door open. He pushed it shut and locked it. A slam against the door echoed through the room.

The lights flickered before pausing and turning back on. Taehwan turned and gripped his chest. He crumbled down onto the floor, struggling to catch his breath.

A last scratch was heard on the door before booming thumps were hushed.

Taehwan's head was pounding and he found it difficult to calm down. His tightened chest refused to loosen He was scared and didn't know what the hell that was. It was his first day awake and he already almost died. Taehwan thought back to the note that he found under the glass of water. You have to escape quickly or you will die. What did that mean? What would happen if he didn't get out in time? Everything was confusing.

Taehwan gripped his hair, pulling on it as a way to deal with the upgrading migraine. He picked himself up from the floor and onto the bed. Exhaustion took dominance over anything he was feeling. Taehwan let his eyes close and his body shut down.
