A friend that lets you cut her bangs is a true friend.
The sound of rain violently slapping on the glass fills my room as I clean the vapours deposited on my window to see the building ahead. A quaint building made up of rustic bricks and pull down window. There is something about this building that I love, probably the comfort it exudes.
The dim light emitted by the huge lamp lit the room in a warm shade of yellow while providing the much needed coziness and warmth.
I pull the bean bag a little near the window as I perch down on it, almost dropping the mug off in the process.
"Ellie, please" Becca begged, startling me at once and breaking my peaceful chain of thoughts.
She has been pestering me to go on a girls trip to Spain with my friends. I don't know if that's because I have been feeling relatively depressed lately or she just wanted to get away from her family wrestling as she prefers to say.
Becca has been my best friend since we were in University and she is the one who introduced me to Chloe.
I don't have problem making friends but I don't often find the right people. Sometimes people are scared because of my extremely extrovert "open talks" and the other times they have trouble understanding me.
Becca and Chloe are the only one who passed all the tests and now I'm closest to them and I intend to keep it that way.
"I'm so sorry Bec, but I cannot. I've work, Janet has planned something for me and I have no money right now to spend on leisure" I sighed propping myself on the floor looking at Becca. Making her upset wasn't on my to-do list today.
Becca looked at me unbelievably, she knew I am lying.
"For heaven's sake, stop lying to me" she groans, frustration lacing her voice.
I look out of the window to seek some inspiration from the grandma building. She must've seen many liars.
Ask her to shut up,grandma.
Is it that obvious when I lie or she knows me too well. I believe it is the latter
"I know you. Janet must've organized a shitty dinner to have some family time and as far as money is concerned I know you earn a shit load of money. More than all of us." she says with a hint of annoyance.
The roaring thunder sends shivers down my spine and I try to bury myself even more in my hoodie.
London's weather has been terrible lately.
"I'm saving to buy a car" I murmur quietly after a couple of minutes trying to look at her from beneath my eyelashes.
Right now, I'm looking a kid who is getting scolded by her teacher.
But I know she is right. If I stay here it will do nothing good to me.
"Elle think about it. Your birthday is also in a month. I bet its the perfect time for you to take a break. You've been working like a maniac from past year and a half. Its been months since we shared a joint" she suggests, pushing me slightly to make room for herself.
Yeah she is right. Apart from the building, the view outside is bland. I could use a enthralling view and a joint ofcourse.
I miss our university days. We used drive unexpected road trips with no destination to go. And then stopping in the middle of nowhere, smoking joint, drinking beer and talking about the most irrelevant things.
Oh good lord!! Those days.
"I'll think about it " I sigh still looking outside.
"You're ready " she smirks eyeing me.
