Wynona's mug sat ready on the granite countertop next to the tea kettle on the stove. The house was calm and quiet. If someone were to walk in unannounced, it would look like any other twenty-something lived there. Nona waited on her blue velvet couch for the tea kettle to scream that high pitch squeal. She was feeling exuberantly empty that evening. Peach tea was that one thing that comforted her when no animal or book could.
The setting sun shone through the canopy of tree's, casting beautiful light rays through Wynona's glass window roof. She lived in the woods on her families property in a small hideaway that looked like a garden conservatory. It was the perfect getaway and living space for her as she preferred to be alone. Wynona's friends and family visited ever so often, but again, she liked being by herself. This allowed her to be whoever she wanted to be without the judgment of others weighing down on her.
Nona often struggled with feeling as if her ideas or dreams weren't good in the eyes of her parents and people around her. She always used to be excited to share a new idea she had with her mom, but she never received the praise she wanted. Instead, her mom would lecture Nona on how her idea was completely unpractical and the extremely hard process she would have to endure to make that idea a reality. Nona knew her Mom was trying to be helpful. She just wanted to share her cool ideas and thoughts with someone but felt that she was not completely supported.
Therefore, Nona kept to herself. If her mom and friends thought her ideas were stupid and unrealistic, then she would stop sharing. She became reserved, thus the reason she moved to the garden conservatory. Her tiny home was surrounded by trees, acting as a nature made fence. It made her feel safe. Her home was Her space and she loved every inch of it.
Wynona was startled by the squeal of the tea kettle. She ran to turn the stove off and took the kettle off the burner. She set the kettle on top a potholder that was sitting on the countertop next to her cat-shaped mug, so she could take the tea bag out of its packaging. Nona's favorite candy was Peach Rings and she found the peach tea by Bigelow to smell exactly like the mouthwatering peach gummy rings. Peach Rings made Wynona happy, ergo, peach tea made her happy and calmed her anxiety and depression for as long as it lasted. If she still felt these emotions after the cup was empty, she would make another cup to drink her unwanted emotions away.
