My name is Kira Essex
Things have been hard for my family, for as long as I can remember. Originally, my family and I are from Sacoma, Louisianna but we moved to the Florida about ten years ago. My mother, Grandmother and I live in an apartment on the lower east side of Glendale, Florida. My mother's name is Marilyn, Mary for short; and my grandmother's name is Carolyn, Carol for short.
Don't get me wrong, my life hasn't been as bad as some people have it; but it also hasn't been a walk in the park. My mother works as a registered nurse at Brooks University Hospital downtown. She makes a good money, but its only enough for us to get by the time they get done playing with her work schedule. My grandmother has an herbal booth where she sells natural products and plants at the flea market; which also brings in money. As for me, I attend Glendale Community College and work when I can find a reliable job.
I guess you can say I'm just like my mother and grandma when it comes to their interest in medicine; because my field of study is botany. I love the idea of being able to find a cure for a virus or some sort of sickness.
Anyway, my birthday is on June nineteenth which is in about a month. I'm going to be twenty-one this year and I don't really care about it that much; but my mother always gets very excited when we talk about it. I don't really see anything different about it than any of my other birthdays, I mean they never go as planned anyway.
I remember one year I had a really big party planned and it got cancelled because my Grandmother went into emergency surgery. I just don't see how this year will be any different from the others.
