Traffic and Letters

Exasperated sigh...

It had been almost an hour since I had been stuck in the terrible traffic of Savannah. The scorching weather today surely had to be the ally of the unexpected traffic. My nerves were hanging on by a single small deteriorating thread. This was definitely not a good thing. Lined in front of my white BMW 325i sedan were cars for up to thirty blocks.

"Okay so maybe not thirty blocks." I laughed to myself. However, there were more cars than there needed to be on 5th Street at this time of day. In times like these my motorcycle would be awesome to weave in and out of traffic, but I wouldn't even consider riding Addie as a passenger. Her life is too precious to risk in such a way...in any way, point blank period. As the traffic grew my annoyance grew. I began to take in more of my surroundings. I had made it to the downtown area of Savannah now. People of all ages walked by, entering and exiting different shops and restaurants. There was a cozy coffee shop to my right called The Clock.
I chuckled to myself, "The Clock? That's some title."

Outside the coffee shop were chairs arranged around small contemporary outdoor tables. As I looked around at the different people seated I noticed a woman with dark hair and lightly tanned skin having a heated discussion with a younger woman, possibly her daughter or sister. She had almost the exact same features as the older woman, dark hair and the tanned complexion with similar facial features. Things didn't look well for either of them judging by their facial expressions. I wonder what they are talking-

"Whoa! Can you say gorgeous? Damn!" I thought to myself. Hell, he is beyond gorgeous. He has the face of an angel. I was staring him directly in the eyes, but he wasn't looking at me. He was seated a table away from the two women. He has deep golden eyes to be exact, and if I had to choose, they are the perfect color for any sunset. I noticed how his short black hair framed his bronze colored forehead in soft tendrils, perfect. My eyes traveled down his face, over his captivating bone structure.

Wow. He looked every bit of delicious. I slowly lowered my eyes to his full lips, which were turned up slightly at each corner with a tiny tilt on one side. The tilt was almost unnoticeable. Was that a smirk? My eyes quickly shot up to meet his penetrating gaze. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest and the heat quickly rising up my neck to fully engulf my smooth caramel face. Why was he staring at me so contently, as if he had no shame?

"Emptyyy me, emptyyyy me yea."

I nearly jumped out of my skin as my all black phone rang. The ringtone was not helping. I snatched my phone up and read the screen. It was my mom. Sigh ...

"Hello?" I breathed.

"What are you doing that has you so much out of breath?" I hadn't realized I had been holding my breath the entire time I was getting my eye full of Mr. Golden Eyes.

"Oh nothing," I replied. "I'm actually stuck in traffic here downtown. I guess I'm a little irritated." What a lie. Well it's not necessarily a lie. I was irritated a minute ago, just before I spotted him... I let my mind wonder back to his gorgeousness. I couldn't shake the strange feeling I got from the way he was staring at me. Was he even looking at me? For a second it seemed as if he was gazing right through me, and then his eyes suddenly came to life. And that smile, what was he smiling--

"Natasha, have you been listening to me?" My mom all but shouted.

"Of course I'm listening to you." Liar. I smiled to myself. I've always had a hard time paying attention when someone was speaking to me. Don't get me wrong. I pride myself in being a great listener, but sometimes my mind just wanders off to more interesting topics. Wink*

"Hmmph," was all mom said, and for a moment there was only silence. Nothing ever fooled her, but I wasn't about to give in and confess. Surprisingly, she continued to talk in her honey coated tone, and I began to drive once again. Finally traffic was beginning to move at its normal pace.
